herbs – these plants have short and juicy stems. Their stems can break easily. Some herbs grow tall but they do not grow as tall as trees. water at all.

grow on the soil. They cover the soil and protect it. Grasses keep the soil from the being washed away when it rains. Bermuda grass and carabao grass are planted on lawns. They make lawns beautiful. They protect the soil, too. Cereal grasses such as wheat, rice and corn are used for food.

Plants live in different places

Terrestrial plants – grow on land and soil. Most terrestrial plants have woody stems and roots. These allow them to grow and spread easily.

A q u a ti c – grow in water. Examples – water lily, kangkong and lotus. Their stems are soft and hallow. Their stems are soft and smooth. These allow them to absorb water which keeps them afloat on bodies of water.

A e r o p h y t e s – grow in the air
