Go through what you already have or write a grant through DonorsChoose.org

Find areas to house stations

Make signs to designate stations

Decide how you will manage the rotation of the stations

Figure out how many stations you will need

How Often? I have 30 minutes a day at 1 station, everydayCould have 15 minutes at one station then rotate to another for 15 more minutesChange materials every other month2 students per station--helps to alleviate problems

I created this station because so many of my students could not write their namesUse pencil boxes (I used old jewelry boxes from Teacher’s Treasures)Included 3 ways to write their name (matching, tracing lines, tracing dotted lines)

Overhead Work Station

Use magnetic letters

Children can spell words, names, etc.

I have added transparencies with word families, sight words, missing letters, and blank lines for writing their own words

Can project on to a screen, white paper, sheets (it doesn’t have to be a big image!)

Pocket Chart Work Station

Teaches tracking print, rhyming words, letter identification, sight word recognitionMy pocket chart corresponds with our Big Book for the weekIn the beginning, I had children locate letters, now we locate rhyming words, and sight words, as well as read the poem or storySometimes the children will have to sequence the chart before they can use it
