List Work History
TIPS: List at least two past positions. If your company appears in the drop down once you type, click on it to ensure you get grouped with fellow employees.
Complete the Summary
TIP: Write your summary in the third person. Otherwise, you’ll be using the letter “I” quite a bit.
Send a Recommendation
TIP: Focus on getting at least three recommendations in order for LinkedIn to label your profile 100% “completed.”
Join a Group Inside Your Industry
TIP: Customize how you want to be notified of group activity –frequency and what email address should be used.
Personalize Your URL
TIP: Don’t use your company name in your LinkedIn URL. A better choice is use your full name or Twitter username.
Customize Your Websites
TIP: Choose “Other”— regardless of what kind of website it is. This will allow you to insert your own title and be more specific.
Leverage LinkedIn Applications
TIP: Document and manage your multiple online account logins and passwords with a spreadsheet.
Share an Update
TIP: Extend your reach by connecting your Twitter account(s) to LinkedIn. Don’t forget to leverage Twitter handles and hashtags.
LinkedIn Best for Lead Generation
TIP: LinkedIn generated the highest visitor-to-lead conversion rate at 2.74% almost 3x higher (277%) than both Twitter (.69%) and Facebook (.77%).
