Our methodology is based on the Vedruna Educational Proposal which have an own
style that revolves around an axis: the value of the person and interpersonal
relationships. This translates into a methodology that should be: inclusive, active-reflective, participatory-open to
dialogue, creative-innovative and critical-liberating.
Methodology
It is also based on the principle of Meaningful
Learning that starts from children´s prior
knowledge and connect with their interests and
needs.
It is a global, active and playful methodology, based on setting up corners in the classroom which favour both individual and small or large groups works.
Motivation is closely linked to these methodological principles. It is absolutely necessary for the child to be attracted to
learning.
We are also aware of the importance of having a close relationship between family and school so that it´s a joint work that involves the two environments in which the child develops in its first years.
Basic skills development
Art Education plays an important role in the development of basic
skills in the early childhood.
Art Education plays an important role in the development of basic skills in the
early childhood.
The use of materials such as crayons, chalks, clays, paintbrushes, sponges, punches, scissors, etc. strengthens
children´s fine and gross motor skills, which has a direct impact on writing.
The process involving making art from scratch makes children improve their perseverance , attention and
concentration level; what is more, experimenting with colours, lines, shapes and textures make them get fun, as a result they will be motivated to learning and it will
definitely be reflected in their educational growth.
It also enriches the language. Children learn new vocabulary significantly when they
experiment with elements of artistic expression and actions involved.
Arts Education is a powerful way to increase self-esteem and self-expression in children. They get excited about their experiences and discoveries in
this field, therefore they are encouraged to continue exploring and thinking new ways to express
themselves; they feel their art works are taken seriously and appreciated.
Entrance DoorsWhat do we see?
What is happening?
What/who appears in the picture?
What title do you
suggest?
Throughout different thinking strategies in group such as Entrance Doors, children are exposed to an artwork in which they are asked to watch and think in silence during a short
time to finish answering the questions described aloud. Among others skills developed with this strategy, children
increase considerably their communication level.
Art education develops reading skills because the child deciphers the phonetic code by associating
drawings and pictures with letters, words and meanings.
Our Reading and writing method
SPAIN
A few aspects to take into account before learning to read and write:
-There is not a fixed age, every child is different and he/she should be ready or madure enough to start.
-Teacher should decide the situable moment to start teaching
-This learning should be included in the everyday routine. We should never impose it.
It is a phonic method
-Based on a global method. It is taught in the everyday routine, not in an exclusive subject.
-It is based on the learning of every phoneme. First, phonemes are worked on their own, we study their form and their sound. Later, they are added to vowels and other consonants in order to create syllables sand words.
