Value of the month:“Mother Earth Inspiration”

Our work is not "just a job". It serves a higher goal and is

beyond making profit. We deal with pressing societal

challenges and try to find solutions to the problems of this

planet. We believe in a better future for ourselves and our

children and work every day to deliver it.

Let’s start with the obvious… Nature itself does not produce waste.

People and human activities do.

Ok, so we know that AK already recycles…… but still there is a lot more to be done

✔ Take a moment and read the guidelines on the recycle bins.

✔ Keep in mind that the blue recycle bins are mainly for bottles, tin-cans, plastic and generally anything that has to do with packaging.

✔ Before you recycle your bottles/packages etc., rinsethem.

✔ Bottle caps are recycled separately so don’t forget to remove them.

✔ batteries

✔ light bulbs, lamps etc.

✔ electronic devices

What more can we recycle?

In general, the idea is that practically anything can be recycled, but in the right

recycle bin!!

But there is more to do than “just” recycling…

✔ No screen savers! Instead, hibernate your PC if you are planning to leave your desk for more than 5 – 10 minutes.

✔ Used copy paper can also be used as “notes” paper instead of using post-its all the time. Make double-sided photocopies if/when possible.

✔ Turn off all power surges when leaving work.

✔ Use eco-friendly detergents.

✔ Switch from Google to Blackle search engine etc.

✔ Clean the A/C filters regularly. Adjust the A/C running temperature according to eco-standards.

✔ Compost maybe (but this requires more effort..)

How to make the office even greener?

✔ Organize outdoor activities like clean up a park, a beach etc.

✔ Plant trees (in coordination with other green eco-friendly companies).

✔ Use recycled items if/when possible.

✔ Influence in a positive way your family and friends.

✔ Don’t just show the way, BE the way.

✔ Embody the “mother earth inspiration” value and the good recycle practices not only @work but also @home.
