1st step: Save as Pro/E file from SolidWorks. Click “Save As..”, scroll down file types toget Pro/E part. Open your part file in Pro/Engineer.

Activate the Mechanica option.

Click ok to the default “Structural” and “FEM mode”

Next two slides shows you how to load property materials from Pro/E default propertyfolder.

Next few pics demonstrate how to define load and constraints.

Completed defining the load and constraints. However, still need to load up thedefinitions in the analysis. Click analysis and pick FEM analysis

Click “New”. Click Add and select the definitions we made earlier.

Next, it meshing and playing around with mesh controls. Notice that I selected the innerhole surface to set min mesh at 1. the meshing was bad around the hole when I trieddefault.

Now the final step to port to Z88. Make sure you save the file as z88g.nas!!!

The file will automatically be save “somewhere”. Use windows search to find location offile. Mine was sitting in “My Documents”. Copy the file to your Z88110 folder.

Run z88com.exe. Click “Compute” and click “z88g”. Click “N”, and click t he runningcartoon figure to run the Pro/E converter.

Compute the cholesky solver. click the running cartoon figure.

almost done, use stress calculation and nodal calculation the same way.

One thing of note. If you get error saying you don’t have enough memory, edit thememory definition file z88.DYN

The next few slides show you how to plot the results using z88p and z88o. You canorient the model using F1-F6 keys.

Sometimes the deflections are too small t o be noticeable. Use magnification factors tosee it better! Look how I magnified this one to about 50,000X to see the resulting benddirection!
