From The East

Brethren,

I must begin this note by expressing my gratitude to the York Rite TrinityCommandery No.16 and the York Rite Council No. 41 for their most generousdonations for the replacement of the air handlers in our Lodge. Brothers RayKildisas, Paul Noller and W:. Jeff Pick have also donated generously to the cause.The replacement of the air handlers was an unexpected expense that we arehoping to recover from by receiving donations from our affiliated Masonic Bodiesand most of all from our Lodge Brothers. Any Brother wishing to donate to thiscause is asked to contact W:.M:. Steve Murphy or W:. Secretary Jeff Pick or justsend your donation to: Venice Lodge No. 301 (memo) building fund. All addresses

can be found on this Trestleboard.

The Sun Fiesta was a great success and I would like to thank each and every Brother and Ladywho took time out of their weekend to volunteer and help at the Brat & Hotdog stand. We mayhave broken a record this year because the weather was perfect and the crowds were hungry.Next year we have permission to serve Corndogs! The Corndogs are very popular at this eventand we expect to sell plenty of them in addition to our Brat’s and Hotdogs. The addition ofCorndogs to our menu will require a lot more work, so we will need more volunteers next year tomake this venture a success.

“Tis the Season” and we are collecting canned goods for the All Faiths Food Bank to help themfeed the less fortunate in our community. I am asking that each Brother when coming to theLodge meetings, bring along two cans each for our donation to this worthy cause. We can’tforget the kiddies who’s parents have a hard time making ends meet around Christmas time. Wecan make some little guy or girl very happy this year when they find something under their treegiven to them by the Toys for Tots organization. Toys for Tots needs our help by collectingdonated unwrapped toys in a special box that will be placed in the foyer of the Lodge just for thatpurpose. Please be generous and put a smile on a youngsters face.

At our first meeting in November we will read the petitions for two petitioners and ballot on twoother petitioners. It is very important to have our Lodge grow and it is also very important that ourmembers be present to take part in the balloting procedure. If you wish to have YOUR ballot castyou must attend this meeting.

Our second meeting of the month of November will honor our Lodge Widows I will try to getinvitations out to each of the Ladies but if any Brother knows of a widow of one of our pastmembers please contact me so I can be sure to invite them. This meeting will also recognize theWidow Sons Organization and the great work that they do.

Fraternally,W:. Steve Murphy, Worshipful Master

TEN MASTER MASONS

Ten Master Masons, happy, doing fine;One listened to a rumor, then there were nine.

Nine Master Masons, faithful, never late;One didn't like the "Master," then there were eight. Eight Master Masons, on their way to heaven;One joined to many clubs, then there were seven.

Seven Master Masons, life dealt some hard licks;One grew discouraged, then there were six.

Six Master Masons, all very much alive;One lost his interest, then there were five.

Five Master Masons, wishing there were more;Got into a great dispute, then there were four.

Four Master Masons, busy as could be;One didn't like the programs, then there were three. Three Master Masons, was one of them you?

One grew tired of all the work, then there were two. Two Master Masons with so much to be done;

One said "What's the use," then there was one. One Master Mason, found a brother -- true!

Brought him to the Lodge, then there were two. Two Master Masons didn't find work a bore;Each brought another, then there were four.

Four Master Masons saved their Lodges fate;By showing others kindness, then there were eight.

Eight Master Masons, loving their Lodges bright sheen;Talked so much about it, they soon counted sixteen. Sixteen Master Masons, to their obligations true;Were pleased when their number went to thirty-two. So we can't put our troubles at the Lodges door;

It's our fault for harming the Lodge we adore.Don't fuss about the programs or the "Master" in the East; Keep your obligation by serving even the very least.
