FEBRUARY 2010
"Prez Sez"UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT
When I was asked to allow my name to stand for election as President ofA.H.C.S.O. I was somewhat reluctant, not least because the position had beenoccupied for the past seven years by a very able and capable person. Lauriehas steered the club through a number of outstanding events, left us in a goodfinancial position and crowned it all with a very successful Conclave in Kingstonlast summer. Thank you Laurie, you will be a very hard act to follow.Hopefully we can continue to have an active and vibrant Club, serving theneeds of Healey owners whatever their interests and level of involvement. Wehave a new team heading up the events committee in the form of Mark Doustand David Underhill and I am hoping you will give them all your support andmake sure to attend the events they put together. Our annual flea market at Ancaster is coming up quickly in April, and all mem-bers are asked to volunteer some time to help this to be the success that it hasto be in order for our Club to keep enjoying the benefits that you have all cometo expect, especially keeping the dues at a minimum level. Martyn will besigning up volunteers wherever he can find them. The rest of your executive have all volunteered their time to the Club and I askthat you give them your full support. This winter will be over before we know it, so let's get all those little (and large)maintenance jobs done and our cars can be back on the road as soon as theweather allows.
GET INTO YOUR HEALEY AND SEE WHAT YOU GET OUT OF IT!!

View From the Navigator's SeatAt our first executive meeting with our new President Bob Yule leading us, plansfor the upcoming 2010 'Healey' year are well under way and promise once againto be an exciting and fun year. Our first important event (and our only moneymaker) is just around the corner with Ancaster British Car Flea Market & CarShow on April 18th. We sure hope the global warning thing kicks in that day sowe don't have to wear our 'woolies' as was the case last year! We at the clubbooth were okay but those poor souls outside taking admission were frozen!Martyn Ridley has promised a nice sunny, warm day so we will hope he is right. As you will see in the Events Calendar there are many fun things planned for thisseason so get out to as many as you can and support this wonderful club whoprovide everything you need to maintain, drive and appreciate thefantastic experience of being a 'Healey' owner. See you in Ancaster!

ANCASTER FLEA MARKETIf you haven't already done so mark SUNDAY, 18 APRIL on your calendar - Flea Market Sunday. The site is now complete. This year we have access to both buildings, a paved parking lot andamenities. While I can't promise sun and a gentle breeze I can say that you won't have to climbover construction or wander through the mud. With the site complete we have expanded the number of tables available. If you are thinkingof being a vendor - this is your year. In addition to more tables we have expanded and relocated the outside vendor area to ensurethat we can handle what ever! For Sale cars will be gathered together for ideal viewing andwe have plenty of parking for vendor vehicles. Those who choose not to vend can volunteer. John Roden and I will on the look out for volunteersto work the gates, set-up and tear-down. The Flea Market sign up site will be on-line for thosewho want to grab that plumb assignment (6AM set-up?). Like the man said "Volunteer early andoften."This year the club has decided not to run a club vendor table. If you have but a few items tosell there is no reason why you can't get together with another member with a few items andshare a table. Ask around at pub night, you are not the only one, I suspect there are manymembers that would like to sell the odd/extra objects in their garage. Now just in case your brain is two years out of date the Flea Market is now located at the cornerof HWYS 2&53 and HWY 52 in Ancaster. Not familiar with the area, exit HWY 403 at HWY 52and go south to the first traffic lights - yer can't miss it!
Time: 9:30 am - 3:30 pm Admission: $5.00To view Flea Market Flyer - please go to: www.ahcso.com and look under 'Events'
It may be the dead of winter but before you know it...................Keep your tyres pumped,
Martyn Ridley

We began about 11 AM andeverything was back and offloaded by 4 PM, including astop for lunch on the wayhome. The reason I wanted to sharethis with everybody is that factthat going out for this expedi-tion with good friends to sharethe experience (and the labour)made the day even more funand special for me. I want to publicly thank AustinHealey Club of SouthernOntario members Scott Morris,Graham Secord, Peter Svilansand Martyn Ridley for help withthe move. In fact Martyn cameback for almost all of the nextday to help me to sort througheverything so I could catalogueand take notes, while he some-how managed to pack andstore it all in my now verycramped facilities.

OUR BN1 COMES HOMELast week, Lyn and I purchased a Hundred , this time for ourselves! It's a really earlyone, built in mid November '53.Four good friends assisted with the gathering, loading and delivery of our BN1 projectcar the following Tuesday afternoon. The weather gods were smiling on us as it turnedout to be ideal conditions for the move; not numbing cold, just cold enough that thingsweren't melting or wet so the roads were clean and dry.
