• Steps:1. Make eye contact and smile2. Shake the person’s hand3. Greet the person and say your name• Ex. Hi. I’m Jamal.

4. Ask for the person’s name.5. Immediately repeat their name while saying

something like, “It’s nice to meet you Sarah.”

Activity

• Line up in alphabetical order by first name.

• Use your introduction skills to learn others’ names if you don’t remember them!

1. Introduce yourself to the person to the left and right of you.

2. Count off by 53. 1s form a group. 2s form a group. Etc.4. Introduce yourself to any group members

you do not know

• The objective of today’s lesson is to practice cooperating with others to achieve a goal.

Paperclip Gum Challenge

• Each team will be receive a paper bag containing the following items: – a piece of chewing gum– a piece of paper– 10 paperclips– a piece of string– five circular stickers

• You have 5 minutes to come up with a plan for creating the longest object you can– It must stay together!

Building Time

• You now have 5 more minutes to construct your object.

• During this 5 minutes, you MAY NOT TALK!
