Numeracy Connections Activity: Cooking in

The Classroom

Kids love to cook! Halving and doubling the recipe 1 tsp is what fraction of a tbsp? If the recipe is started at 1:00pm, will it be finished by

2:00pm? How many different ways can you cut a 30x30 pan of

granola bars in equal pieces? What is the smallest pan size that can be used for these

ingredients? Will the total volume of ingredients in this recipe fit in a

30x30x4cm pan?

Numeracy Connections Activity: Grocery Store

Flyers

Comparing cost of different food itemsInterpreting information

sales, price by weight, price per eachCompare cost of ‘Lunchable’ vs. buying

healthier parts separatelyCosting a balanced meal
