From the Pastor:
My dear friends in Christ,
The month of May, with its profusion of blooms, was adopted by the Church in the eighteenth century as a celebration of the flowering of Mary's spirituality.
The Catholic practice of assigning a special devotion to each month goes back to the early 16th century. Since the best known of those devotions is probably the dedication of May as the month of the Blessed Virgin Mary, it might come as a surprise that it wasn't until the late 18th century that this devotion arose among Jesuits in Rome. In the early years of the 19th century, it quickly spread throughout the Western Church, and, by the time of Pope Pius IX's declaration of the dogma of the Immaculate Conception in 1854, it had become universal. We use this month of May as an opportunity to renew our devotion to Our Blessed Lady, the Mother of God. Wouldn’t it be a good time to dust off our rosaries and add a few more Marian prayers to our daily routine?
This Sunday at our 9:30am Mass, the children who received their first Holy Communion last week will crown our Blessed Mother. We congratulate them on their reception of the Eucharist – “the source and summit of our Christian faith”, and we pray with them as they lead us to venerate the Blessed Virgin Mary.
We are continuing to meet as Cohort #1. We will begin discussion on ways to Evangelize and bring the faithful back to Church. Please pray for our efforts.
May God bless you all!
Fr. John
THE CELEBRATION OF FIRST HOLY COMMUNION
Our students received the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus into their hearts for the very first time last Sunday at the 11:30 AM Mass. May this oneness with Jesus remind them always of His abiding love.

LAUDATE CHORALE A “HIT!”
What a “joyful noise”! Thank you to Steve Lucasi and the Laudate Chorale for their wonderful performance last Sunday here in Corpus Christi Church. The Laudate Chorale performs benefit concerts for various charities throughout the year. The concert here was to benefit Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Donations from the concert totaled almost $900.00. The concert was worth every penny and the children of St. Jude ... priceless! May God bless Mr. Lucasi and the members of the Laudate Chorale for all you do in God’s name.

“WOMEN OF JOY” PRAYER BREAKFAST Saturday, May 13th, 2017, 9:00-11:30 AM
Happy Anniversary, Women of Joy! This month we joyfully celebrate completing 13 years of sharing our faith as Women of Joy, growing in the knowledge of God in our lives through prayer and Scripture. With God’s help, may love, grace and wisdom be with us as we live our lives reflecting God’s presence in the world. This day we wish all mothers a Happy Mother’s Day. As mothers, daughters, sisters, wives and friends, may we be blessed in our choices and, in turn, be a blessing to all those whose lives we touch! All Women of Joy, past and present, are invited and welcome to join in the celebration. We’ll gather in Bogdan Hall 9:15 AM and process into Church for our special Mass of Blessing and Thanksgiving. Breakfast, sharing and fellowship will follow, as always, in Bogdan Hall. We look forward to seeing you on May 13th for this happy occasion. All are welcome. Information/directions?
