Psalm 67:1-5“1May God be gracious to us and bless us

and make His face to shine upon us, 2that Your way may be known on earth,

Your saving power among all nations.

3Let the peoples praise You, O God;

Let all the peoples praise You!4Let the nations be glad and sing for joy,

for You judge the people with equity

and guide the nations upon the earth.

5Let the peoples praise You, O God;

Let all the peoples praise You!”

Psalm 67:1-5

O, for a Thousand Tongues to Sing!

O for a thousand tongues to sing

my great Redeemer’s praise,

the glories of my God and King,

the triumphs of His grace!

My gracious Master and my God,

assist me to proclaim,

to spread through all the earth abroad

the honors of Thy name!

Jesus! the name that charms our fears,

that bids our sorrows cease;

‘Tis music in the sinner’s ears,

‘Tis life, and health, and peace.

He breaks the power of cancelled sin,

He sets the prisoner free;

His blood can make the foulest clean,

His blood availed for me.

Glory to God, and praise, and love

be ever, ever given,

By saints below and saints above,

the church in earth and heaven.

By saints below and saints above,

the church in earth and heaven.

Murdered SonYou set us up above all the stars

You set us on a high place by where You are

and while we were dead, You made us Your friends

and scattered our debt upon the winds

Glory to One, God’s murdered Son

who paid for my resurrection.

Once from the dust, and once from the grave,

Daughters and sons from the ashes You’ve raised

and hidden our faults even from Your own face

and scattered our debt upon the waves.

Glory to One, God’s murdered Son

who paid for my resurrection.

(x2)

Glory to the One who overcame in death.

Glory to the One who paid for my offenses.

Glory to the One.

Glory to the One.

Glory to One, God’s murdered Son

who paid for my resurrection.

In the Shadow of the Glorious Cross

In the shadow of the glorious cross

Compelled by grace to cast my lot.

Embrace the loss and bare Your name,

Forsaking all for Your own fame.

Your hymn of grace sung over me,

Abounding forth in glorious streams.

My thirst is quenched by You, my Lord.

Sustained am I, redeemed, restored;

Sustained am I, redeemed, restored.

Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

When death’s dark shadow’s at my feet;

When I am plagued by unbelief;

You place my hands into Your side;

By precious blood identified;

By precious blood identified.

Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

These crowns I’ve clenched with fisted hands;

I cast them down before the throne;

Of Christ, my God, the Worthy Lamb;

Christ crucified, the Great I Am;

Christ crucified, the Great I Am;

Christ crucified, the Great I Am;

Hallelujah!

Hallelujah!

Hallelujah!

In the shadow of the glorious cross

Compelled by grace to cast my lot.

Embrace the loss and bare Your name,

Forsaking all for Your own fame.

Ecclesiastes 5:8-20 “Laughing Stock Legacy” Sermon notes @

Ecclesiastes 5:8-9

8 If you see in a province the oppression of the poor and the violation of justice and righteousness, do not be amazed at the matter, for the high official is watched by a higher, and there are yet higher ones over them. 9 But this is gain for a land in every way: a king committed to cultivated fields.

Ecclesiastes 5:10-12

10 He who loves money will not be satisfied with money, nor he who loves wealth with his income; this also is vanity.11 When goods increase, they increase who eat them, and what advantage has their owner but to see them with his

eyes? 12 Sweet is the sleep of a laborer, whether he eats little or much, but the full stomach of the rich will not let him

sleep.

Ecclesiastes 5:13-17

13 There is a grievous evil that I have seen under the sun: riches were kept by their owner to his hurt, 14 and those

riches were lost in a bad venture. And he is father of a son, but he has nothing in his hand. 15 As he came from his

mother's womb he shall go again, naked as he came, and shall take nothing for his toil that he may carry away in his hand. 16 This also is a grievous evil: just as he came, so shall

he go, and what gain is there to him who toils for the wind? 17 Moreover, all his days he eats in darkness in much

vexation and sickness and anger.

Ecclesiastes 5:18-20

18 Behold, what I have seen to be good and fitting is to eat and drink and find enjoyment in all the toil with which one

toils under the sun the few days of his life that God has given him, for this is his lot. 19 Everyone also to whom God has given wealth and possessions and power to enjoy them, and to accept his lot and rejoice in his toil—this is the gift of God. 20 For he will not much remember the days of his life

because God keeps him occupied with joy in his heart.

Gospel Application:1) Do we judge others associated with

what they do and make rather than image bearers of God?

2) Do we know we can truly live out our salvation here and now?

3) How will the Gospel cause us to live for Jesus giving generously in every area of our lives with time, talent, and treasure?

Do this in remembrance of me…

2 Corinthians 9:7Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion,

for God loves a cheerful giver.

1 Corinthians 11:23-26For I received from the Lord what I also

delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, 24 and

when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “This is my body which is for you. Do this

in remembrance of me.” 25 In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup

is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of

me.” 26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's

death until he comes.

Jesus, I My Cross Have TakenJesus, I my cross have taken,

All to leave and follow Thee.

Destitute, despised, forsaken,

Thou from hence my all shall be.

Perish every fond ambition,

All I’ve sought or hoped or known.

Yet how rich is my condition!

God and heaven are still my own.

Let the world despise and leave me;

they have left my Savior, too.

Human hearts and looks deceive me;

Thou art not, like them, untrue.

O while Thou dost smile upon me,

God of wisdom, love, and might,

Foes may hate and friends disown me;

Show Thy face and all is bright.

Go, then, earthly fame and treasure;

Come disaster, scorn and pain

In Thy service, pain is pleasure;

With Thy favor, loss is gain

I have called Thee Abba Father;

I have stayed my heart on Thee

Storms may howl, and clouds may gather;

All must work for good to me.

Soul, then know thy full salvation;

Rise o’er sin and fear and care

Joy to find in every station;

Something still to do or bear.

Think what Spirit dwells within thee;

Think what Father’s smiles are thine,

Think that Jesus died to win thee;

Child of heaven, canst thou repine.

Haste thee on from grace to glory;

Armed by faith, and winged by prayer.

Heaven’s eternal days before thee,

God’s own hand shall guide us there.

Soon shall close thy earthly mission;

Soon shall pass thy pilgrim days,

Hope shall change to glad fruition;

Faith to sight, and prayer to praise.

“Jesus, I My Cross Have Taken” (1824)Words: Henry LyteMusic – Bill MooreCCLI: 11148322

In Christ Alone In Christ alone, my hope is found;

He is my light, my strength, my song;

This cornerstone, this solid ground,

Firm through the fiercest drought and storm;

What heights of love, what depths of peace,

When fears are stilled, when strivings cease;

My Comforter, my All in all,

Here in the love of Christ I stand.

In Christ alone, Who took on flesh,

Fullness of God in helpless Babe;

This gift of love and righteousness,

Scorned by the ones He came to save;

‘Til on that cross, as Jesus died,

The wrath of God was satisfied,

For ev’ry sin on Him was laid;

Here in the death of Christ I live.

There in the ground His body lay,

Light of the world by darkness slain;

Then bursting forth in glorious day,

Up from the grave He rose again;

For I am His and He is mine,

Bought with the precious blood of Christ!

No guilt in life, no fear in death,

This is the pow’r of Christ in me;

From life’s first cry to final breath,

Jesus commands my destiny;

No pow’r of hell, no scheme of man

Can ever pluck me from His hand;

‘Til He returns or calls me home,

Here in the pow’r of Christ I’ll stand.

Rock of AgesRock of ages, cleft for me,

let me hide myself in Thee;

Let the water and the blood,

from Thy wounded side which flowed,

Be of sin the double cure;

save from wrath and make me pure.

Not the labor of my hands

can fulfill Thy laws demands;

Could my zeal no respite know,

could my tears forever flow,

All for sin could not atone;

Thou must save, and Thou alone.

Nothing in my hands I bring,

Simply to Thy cross I cling;

Naked, come to Thee for dress;

Helpless look to thee for grace;

Foul, I to the fountain fly;

Wash me, Savior or I die.

While I draw this fleeting breath,

When mine eyes shall close in death,

When, at last, I – fully known –

See Thee on Thy judgment throne,

Rock of Ages, cleft for me,

Left me hide myself in Thee

Left me hide myself in Thee

Left me hide myself in Thee

Left me hide myself in Thee
