Hello everyone
What an unusual few weeks ……….
When we first mooted the possibility of our own RV Club, I would not have foreseen the
“drama” that we have gone through, nor that we would have it up and operating in just 3 weeks.
But it happened and we are now operational.
“Congratulations” on becoming Foundation Members of the Roustabouts RV Club.
I would like to thank everyone for their encouragement and support that you have shared
with us over the past few weeks. It has been a trying time for a number of us, and it has been
your supportive emails and phone calls and your strong commitment to becoming members
and getting the new Club off and running that has made it all worthwhile.
Now, we need to take the next step and work towards creating the Roustabouts RV Club as
one of the most widely recognised, well run and organised clubs throughout the RV world.
Together, we can do that.
As the Inaugural President of the new Roustabouts RV Club brings with it many responsibilities
and I look forward to working with you to achieve our goals.
We are fortunate that over the past years, we have developed a pretty strong combination of
weekend musters, social events and the longer “Long Paddock drives”. This platform has served
our members well and I know that we can continue to improve from a successful base. In this
newsletter is a summary of some future musters and the future “long paddock drives” that are
scheduled over the next few years.
It is our club and as members we are in control of our own destiny. So don’t be afraid to put
forward your thoughts and ideas.
There are many advantages and opportunities for development and growth as our own club.
Just one of those advantages is our Affiliation with the Caravan Clubs of Queensland and
through them with the National Association of Caravan Clubs. This gives us contact with
over 134 caravan clubs throughout Australia and more than 15,000 fellow RV’ers. A strong
representative forum.
Your Executive will be working as quickly as possible to get our Incorporation approved by the
Queensland Office of Fair Trading; our Bank Accounts operational; Public Liability insurance and
affiliation with CCQ; as well as any other administrative hurdles that we might need to cover.
Judy and I look forward to catching up and sharing a drink or two with you at Canungra, and
then enjoying a relaxing Christmas lunch at the Moreton Bay Boat Club in Scarborough during
December.
If we don’t catch up between now and then. Best wishes to you all for the Festive season.
Cheers
Brian

Inaugural Meeting
Outcomes and Updates
Wow! We must have been doing something right
because we start the new club with fifty eight
members. Thank you all for the support you
have demonstrated.
What an inaugural meeting it was with thirty one
people in attendance, cheerios, pies, scones, buns,
cakes, sausage rolls tea and coffee were the order
of the evening at Estelle and Ian James home at
Victoria Point. Could you imagine what it
would’ve been like if the twenty one member
apologies had turned up … Greg Pilon might have
missed out on his scones..
Before I go any further, a huge thank you to Ian and
Estelle for allowing us to have our meeting at their
home.
I would also like to thank the twenty one
members who couldn’t attend but sent in their
votes anyway. Indeed, the makings of a great
club.
Club Name Thursdays meeting approved the name
Roustabouts RV Club and an ABN has been
organised and the business name now registered
with ASIC.

Expectations are the club will be incorporated by
the first muster.
Club Constitution Many hours of work have gone into our
constitution and by-laws and the meeting
discussed, requested some amendments and
approved them for the club.
The amendments have been inserted and future amendments to the constitution have to be
approved by the Office of Fair Trading (with a
fee) however by-laws can be amended at the
annual general meeting.
Bank Account The club will bank with the Bank of Queensland
at Kippa Ring and access to electronic trading will
be available to members. Our Treasurer will
be finalising the account in the next week or so.
Membership Joining fee: The fee is $5 per person, however
this is waived for members of
Brisbane Roustabouts who join
by 31 December 2016.
Annual Fee: $10 per member.
Our financial year is June to July. As our club
started earlier than anticipated, members who join prior to incorporation will have their annual
fee carry over to 1 July 2018.
Rig Fees The practice is collecting Rig Fees will continue as
these assist with statutory and affiliation fees; club
administrative and operational requirements.
For those of you unfamiliar with Rig Fees. This is
a fee paid by members when they attend a muster
(rally) and removes the need for raffles and other
money raising.
The fee structure is
Musters: $5 a rig
Long Paddock Drive: $20 a rig (Opal & Dinosaur trip). This fee covers
the cost of trip organisation and may increase in
future years.
Foundation membership Open to anyone who joins and pays their annual
fee prior to incorporation.

Vice President Message
Just to coin the phrase "Roustabouts are go"
We are off and running with great times
planned for the future, your committee has
some excellent events planed for all to enjoy.
Apart from musters and long paddock drives
you can look forward to day trips, possibly
cruises on the Brisbane river, BBQ in a park,
coffee times and lots more. I am very pleased
at the response received by all people wishing
to become a Roustabout RV Club member. I
am sure you will enjoy every minute of your
time with us. we can only go forward from
here on. See you all soon.
John Dillon .
Meeting Outcomes Continued
Club Shirts Members had a variety of designs and colour
schemes to consider and the majority vote went
to the design illustrated on a blue shirt (small
photo) at the inaugural meeting.
.
Discussions are taking place
with the manufacturer for both
long and short sleeve polo
shirts. The process that allows us to have a photo
impregnated on the shirt is called sublimation.
The shirt is lightweight, polyester, wash and
wear, UV30 rated and the design does not wear
out. Pockets are however unable to be put on
shirts as it would go over the picture on the
shirt, not blend in with the photo.
Our Merchandising Team (Maria and Paul ) will
provide size information and prices as soon as
negotiations are finalised and orders taken.
Why an ABN We are an autonomous not for profit club and having an
ABN allows the Club to apply for government and
sporting grants.
Website Initial discussions have taken place with an organisation
regarding an interactive website. As soon as more
information becomes available it will be advised to
members.

Fletcher Creek
Pull up some shade and enjoy the pleasant
Fletcher Creek campsite. This free camping spot
is situated on the banks of a flowing and clear
creek and is a very popular stop over site for
campers and caravanners.
The campsite doesn’t have any designated areas
for people to park or pitch tents, so simply find a
place you like on the large grassed area and settle
in.
If you want to stretch your legs the Dalrymple
National Park is close by with beautiful walks.
It features ancient lava flows, fossilised limestone
and Burdekin River and you can spot a range of
Aussie animals including rock wallabies, squirrel
gliders, sugar gliders (if you are lucky enough) and
a variety of birds.

Aussie Bush Etiquette
Aussie bush etiquette is recognized throughout
the civilized world but we all need to be
reminded from time to time.
In General
Never take an open stubby to a job
interview
Always identify people in your
paddocks before shooting at them
Its tacky to take an Esky to church
If you have to vacuum the bed, its time
to change the sheets
Even if certain you're included in the
will, its rude to take your Ute and
trailer to the funeral
Eating Out
When decanting wine from the box,
tilt the paper cup and pour slowly so as
not to bruise the wine
If drinking directly from the bottle,
hold it with only one hand
Entertaining at Home
A centerpiece for the table should
never be anything prepared by a
taxidermist
Don’t allow the dog to eat at the table,
no matter how good his manners are
Personal Hygiene
While ears need to be cleaned
regularly, this should be done in
private, using ones OWN Ute keys
If you live alone, deodorant isn't a
waste of money
Extensive use of deodorant can only
delay bathing by a few days
Dirt and grease under the fingernails is
a no-no. It alters the taste of finger
foods: and if you are a women. It can
draw attention away from your jewelry
Theatre/Cinema Etiquette
Crying babies should be taken to the
lobby and picked up after the movie
ends
Refrain from yelling abuse at
characters on the screen. Tests have
proved they cant hear you
Weddings
Livestock is a poor choice for a
wedding gift
For the groom, at least rent a tux. A
tracksuit with a cummerbund and a
clean football jumper can create a
tacky appearance
Though uncomfortable, say ‘yes’ to
socks and shoes for the occasion
Driving Etiquette
When entering a roundabout, the
vehicle with the largest roo bar doesn't
always have the right of way
Never tow another car using pantyhose
and duct tape
When sending your wife down the road
with a petrol can, its impolite to ask
her to bring back beer as well.

Long Paddock Drive
Roustabout RV Club organises and manages a range of fully escorted RV travelling
holidays under the banner of Long Paddock Drives.
Drives are open to anyone with an RV wishing to take the trips.
You do not need to be a member of the Club and there is no compulsion to
attend a Long Paddock Drive. Attendees can even choose their start and finish
locations.
Different from a tagalong, a Long Paddock Drives provide planned itineraries,
pre-booked discounted accommodation, events and tours on behalf of
participants and in addition, a support team (Boss Drover, Head Stockman
and Ringer) travel on the trip to assist participants as necessary and provide
administrative and operational back up support.
Many of our Clubs Outback Drives tour remote areas of our country for
extended periods and the Club believes that the security and safety of
participants (especially those on their first adventure) is paramount.
These drives could travel on all bitumen, part bitumen/part off road or all off
road. The emphasis is on providing a supportive approach to the travellers, many
of whom may be inexperienced caravanners.
The drives are staged annually with their organisation starting two years prior to
the event. This organisation ensures everyone gains maximum enjoyment on the
holiday.
Please note the itinerary is subject to change up to a few months from the Long
Paddock Drive commencement date. All amendments are notified to those who
have expressed an interest in attending.
Commitment to attend?
Expressing an interest to attend does not commit to going; it indicates you’re
interested in going and wish to have more information as it occurs. Expressing an
interest gives organisers improved negotiation ability. Payment of requested
deposits at least six months out formalises your attendance.
Whet your Interest?
To obtain a fully detailed itinerary and brochure or express an interest to attend,
please contact our Long Paddock Drive Coordinator on 0412 614 260 or email
the Club Office at roustaboutsrv@bigpond.com
