a) what is dc motor ?

b) What ARE THE main parts of dc motor?

d) What is THE construction and principle of operation?

1) DC Motors take electrical energy and produce mechanical energy.

2) Electric motors are used to power hundreds of devices we use in everyday life.

3) We can also say that dc motor is an electrical instrument.

1) Shaft

2) Stator /FIELD CORE

3) ARMATURE WITH Commutator

4) Carbon Brushes

1) DC motors consist of armature winding.

2) inside another set of coils or a set of permanent magnets, called the stator.

3) The rotor is the inner part which rotates.

4) A winding is made up of series or parallel connection of coils.

1) armature winding

2) field winding

1) The DC motor starts up when a small electric current is passed through a magnetic field coil.

2) The resulting magnetic force producing the torque that turns the motor repeatedly.

3) Dc fans also called conventional fans (with carbon brushes).

1) Dc fans has longer life.

2) Noise is virtually eliminated.

3) Dc fans more compact.

Limitations of dc fans1) after 800hrs OF USAGE, carbon brushes are Worn

OUT.

>Conventional dc motors are highly efficient and their characteristics make them suitable for use as servomotors. However, their only drawback is that they need a commutator and brushes which are subject to wear and require maintenance. >When the functions of commutator and brushes were implemented by solid-state switches, maintenance-free motors were realized. These motors are now known as brushless dc motors.

1) The construction of modern brushless motors is very similar to the ac motor, known as the permanent magnet synchronous motor.

2) the structure of a typical three-phase brushless dc motor. 3) It consist of electronic switches, commutator, that is in built of

pcb (printed circuit board).

Field magnet on the stator. quick response & excellentcontrollability. ring connection & delta connections.mechanical contact between brushes and commutator.Automatically detected by brushes. It is also called conventional and electrical dc motor.

Field magnet on the rotor. long lasting & easy maintenance.

Highest grade-delta and star connection.Electronic switching using transistor.

Hall element & optical encoder etc.It is also called electronic control by dc motor.

1) No. of phase = 3 (r,y,b)2) no. of slots = 63) no. of turns in windings = 435-4804) No. of pole in rotor = 45) Noise level = 55 db6) Input voltage range = 90v dc to 140v dc7) Frequency range = 50hz8) Rated voltage = 110v dc

1) current reading = 29 amp

2) Dc voltage reading = 110v dc

3) Voltage range= 90-140v dc

4) PCD of pcb = 108 mm

5) r.p.m of dc fan = 1280

1) Current reading = 21amp

2) Dc voltage reading = 110v dc

3) Voltage range= 90-150v dc

4) r.p.m of bldc fan =1290

5) Pcd of pcb = 108 mm

a) Sometime magnetic sensor are loose from THEIR own position than fan blades rotates IN opposite direction.

b) If magnetic sensor are break than bldc (with sensor) are useless.

1) If we apply 90 vdc or 110 vdc but speed of bldc fan are constant.

2) Longer life.

3) High speed.

4) Automatic control.

5) No noise effect.

6) Simple construction.

1) The AH5798 is a single chip.

2) Full bridges are use. 2 bridges are working and other 2 bridges are off.

3) Electro magnetic interference (EMI)

providing a low noise solution.

4) the AH5798 provides Rotor Lock Protection which shuts down output drive if rotor lock is detected.

5) the device automatically re‐starts when the rotor lock is removed.

6) Over temperature shutdown providesthermal protection for the device.

7) a tachometer output is provided by open drain frequency generator (fg), The FG output is the magnetic change frequency.

disadvantage:-a) heating effectb) High cost

APPLICATION:-A) 3V / 3.3V / 5V BLDC Cooling Fans.ƒB) Low Voltage / Low Power BLDC Motors
