Marketing the local vegetables is one of challenges

that facing increasing the local vegetables production

in Qatar, which led the local farmers to go for green

fodder production and leave the vegetables

production.

For that reason, the ministry found some initiatives

and new outlets for marketing local vegetables as

follows:

• This idea was found in 2012 to help local farmers to market their

products.

• As a result of the good out come from the first yard, three new

yards were opened in 2016.

• Another new yard was opened in 2017

• During the yards period there are many activates such as;

• Honey Festival

• Flowers Festival

Date Palm Marketing Program

• Yearly date palm festival is one of activates of the ministry

to promote date palm marketing.

• Every year the ministry purchasing around 1000 Ton of

date palm from local farmers.

Premium Qatari Vegetables

• New marketing program for premium Qatari vegetables was

lunched by the ministry of municipality & Environment and

the ministry of economic and trade.

• The idea of program is marketing the premium Qatari

vegetables with high specifications in compare with European

products in the hypermarket with good price that differ than

the price in central market.

The requirements for Joining the Program

1. The products should be in good packaging

2. The name of farm should be shown in the

packaging label

3. Packaging box should be new and not used before.

4. Packaging box should have the logo of premium
