The Cell

Tiffany Stephens

A cell is like a school because a school has many different parts to keep it running properly like a cell.

The nucleus is like a principal because the principal controls the school like the nucleus controls the cell.

The cell membrane is like a receptionist because a receptionist controls who goes in and out of the school like a cell membrane controls what goes in and out of the cell.

The cell wall is like a classroom because a classroom protects students and staff like a cell wall protects the inside of the cell.

The endoplasmic reticulum is like hallways in a school because they are passage ways for students and staff like the endoplasmic reticulum makes passages for proteins.

The Golgi apparatus is like a school bus because a school bus transports kids to school like the Golgi apparatus ships proteins.

The mitochondrion is like the electric company because the electric company provides power to the school like the mitochondrion provides energy for the school

The vacuole is like a bathroom because student waste goes into the bathroom like cell waste is stored in the vacuole.

The ribosome is like a cafeteria because a cafeteria produces food for students and staff like a ribosome produces food for the cell.

A plant cell has a cell wall located on the outside of the cell.

Plant cells go through photosynthesis and cellular respiration.

Plant cells are green due to chlorophyll and have chloroplasts.

They are square or rectangular shaped.

There is one large vacuole in a plant cell.

An animal cell has a cytoskeleton located on the inside of the cell.

Animal cells go through only cellular respiration.

They are white/pink/red in color due to hemoglobin.

They do not have chloroplasts.

They can be any shape but have rounded edges.

There are many small vacuoles in an animal cell.

•A cell wall and a cytoskeleton both provide structure and support for the organism.•Both types of cells go through cellular respiration.
