NYLON FABRIC

• Nylon is a Synthetic / Man made polymer material

• Nylon was the first truly synthetic fiber to be commercialized

• It belongs to polyamide family

• The two most common versions are nylon 66

(polyhexamethylene adiamide) and nylon 6

(Polycaprolactam)

INDEX

• First manufactured synthetic fibre

• Created by Dr.wallace H carothers while

working

For the Du Pont company in USA.

• The invention of nylon was announced on

October 27,1938 to a group of women

• First success was the use in women’s

stockings(1940).

• During WWII nylon was needed for war

materials.

HISTORY OF NYLON

Structure and Appearance

• Variation of luster: nylon has the ability to be very

lustrous, semilustrous or dull.

• High Durability

• High Impact Resistance

• High Elongation

• Excellent Abrasion Resistance

• High Temperature Resistance

• Excellent resistance to Oils, Bases..

• Excellent material for machining
