• Metrolinx is an agency of theGovernment of Ontario responsiblefor the coordination of all modes oftransportation in the Greater Torontoand Hamilton Area (GTHA).

• Metrolinx is working to transform theway the region moves by building afast, convenient and integratedtransit network.

• This includes more frequent andreliable electrified GO Rail serviceknown as RER.

• Currently the Barrie RailCorridor provides one-way,rush hour weekday serviceand limited weekend service.

• RER will provide the Town ofNewmarket with:• 30 minute, two-way weekday

rush hour service; and• 60 minute, two-way mid-day,

evening and weekend service.

• With RER, infrastructure and facilityimprovements will be made to theBarrie Rail Corridor and theNewmarket GO Station.

• Metrolinx has retained a multi-disciplinary team from IBI Group tocomplete a Mobility Hub Study forNewmarket GO.

• The Mobility Hub Study will, in part,help inform future RER planning anddesign initiatives.

WHAT IS A MOBILITY HUB

• Mobility Hubs are major transit stations and thesurrounding areas that have:

• Significant levels of existing or planned transit;

• Connections to different modes of transportation - fromwalking to rapid transit; and

• Intensive concentrations of working, living and otheractivities.

• The 51 Mobility Hubs in the Greater Toronto andHamilton Area vary in terms of type, but all sharesimilar objectives for seamless mobility, placemakingand successful implementation.

• Opportunities exist to enhance theNewmarket GO Station area, leveragethe existing transit connections andrealize its potential as a designatedMobility Hub.

• The Mobility Hub Study is intended to:• Establish a vision for the GO Station and

the surrounding area;

• Identify opportunities for short andlonger-term improvements; and

• Support existing planning efforts andinvestment and inform ongoing initiatives.

• 274 commuter parking spaces

• 4 carpool spaces

• No car share or car charging stations

• No dedicated passenger pick-up anddrop-off area (PPUDO)

• Single platform with shelters

• 3 uncovered bike racks (40 spaces)

• 1 covered bike shelter (8 spaces)

• Viva Yellow stops located 200 to 300 metres from GO rail platform

• Minimal bus integration
