Starting with just Sam back in 2014 this team has grown to 6 members with nearly 40 Newmarket years experience between them. Headed up by Wes this team are responsible for making sure SCS operate efficiently. The team works hard behind the scenes, processing cheques, managing the rota, analysing call statistics and being the link in communication between other teams at Newmarket; they have a lot of fingers in a lot of pies (they also love pie!).

Meet the Team!SCS operations

Wes1½ Newmarket yearsOne of the most challenging roles I have undertaken in my 20 years in the travel industry (yes I’m old enough for that!) my main role in the team is data analysis and keeping the rest of the team in check. Fun fact, I once travelled to Cape Town to star in my very own TV advert that is still shown on ITV4.

Sam 9 Newmarket yearsWorking in various positions within SCS, operations is the most exciting and varied position I have held. My main responsibilities are rota management and customer service call analysis. My biggest achievement is becoming a mummy to my gorgeous son.

Becky 1 Newmarket yearMy main role is to look after customer service’s admin. This includes cancellations, sending out visa information, processing cheque payments and responding to customers queries sent to us by letter. Fun fact; I am certified in Reiki healing and have a identical twin sister.

Georgina 5 Newmarket yearsBusy every day as the go to person for most customer service queries and complaints. My life long ambition is to own a Bulldog called Tinkerbell - the uglier the better! I am now on maternity leave for few months.

Louise 13 Newmarket yearsStarting as a customer service agent I worked my way up to management! Once I had my little girl I opted for a position in this team. My main role is to manage the everyday functioning of the SCS team, ensuring all team members are logged-in and ready to help our customers. Fun fact, I recently went to get a kitten for my daughters and came back with an English bull terrier called George!

Stacey 9 Newmarket yearsI am becoming the new Georgina for 9 months, a role I am very excited to learn lots of new skills in! Outside of work I love spending time with my son Daniel, I love to socialise and I am on a strict get fit regime (and lose weight!). Fun fact I have a tongue tie, which I daren’t get cut in case it makes me talk more than I do already!

The Roadshow may be over but our work is far from done. The Tour Management team are following up all the points that were raised. And, we are continuing to think of and execute different ideas & incentives involving our Tour Managers and their on the road expertise. The Tour Management team are 1FT-ing all over the place! A huge thank you once again to everyone involved. We really are #oneteam

Thank you all for today. Found the presentations inspiring and everyone was so friendly and approachable. Makes me feel proud to work for NM.

On the 15th & 16th March we held two Tour Manager Roadshows here at Newmarket HQ. Our goal for these days was to share with our Tour Managers the Company strategy for the next three years and to listen to their ideas and views. We had sixty of our Tour Managers visit us across the two dates. They must have really wanted to see us because they all came here at their own expense. A few real troopers were; Chrissy who travelled by overnight train from Cornwall, Janet flew here from Hamburg and Julie, after having just finished working on one of our USA tours came straight here from Heathrow.

The day started with the strategy presentation from the board of directors and heads of department. After a short break we had presentations from Neil Bourne, Operations Team, Nick Turnbull, Sales and Customer Service Team and Claire Davies, representing Customer Relations. Many more people from Product and other teams came to meet and talk to the Tour Managers in the staff room at lunch time too. Over the two days the Tour Managers raised many excellent points and had lots of great ideas. For example:- Product suggestions, itinerary amendments and how they could help promote & sell our holidays for us.

It’s great arriving at a clean, fresh, smart and spacious place of work. The café round the corner is a fine replacement for Feedwells.Mark Summers, Sales

“ “

I like the way we are all mixed together, I’ve seen and met more people in the last year in Cantium House than I meet in 7 years at McMillian.Lucy Power, SCS

“ “

I love having a garden and the kitchen seems the place to be, it’s an absolute social hub, people chatting and jumping in and out of conversations.Julie Reed, HR“

The organisation seems to be running and looking a lot more professional, I think this has to do with the building being modern and the new IT equipment and services.Imogene Spencer, SCS

“ “

I was so upset to leave McMillan (I never knew how attached I was), but when I walked into Cantium House, it was like realising your new boyfriend is so much better than your old boyfriend ever was.Claire Davis, Product

Paper is now regarded as one of the world’s great sustainable products. It’s biodegradable, recyclable and made from renewable raw materials. In partnership with our print supply chain, our brochures are printed using carbon balanced FSC certified materials. In association with the Woodland Trust, Newmarket Holidays has planted over 7000sq meters of native woodland and in the process captured over 457 tonnes of C02 so far.
