Allow students to show their understanding through multiple means oral discussions, filling in a graphic organizer, creating a

chart, etc.

Fiction use text at student’s instructional level

Non – fiction may have to focus your attention on visuals only such as

picture captions, bolded words, charts, graphs, etc.

Students may “listen to” and discuss text PRIOR to being introduced to it in the general education setting

Provide choice in text to use for close reading
