SPRING 2011
Aaron Scarborough Program Director & Site Manager “Programming with a purpose” is what we strive to achieve with all of our activities at Sacramento. From ATV’s to Paint-ball, Archery to the Zip line– our goal is to get kids and adults alike to experience the outdoors in new ways. However, our favorite aspect of programming here at Sacramento is the “debrief”. These are the most crucial moments after an event when we get to share our stories of how Christ has changed our lives and how He is working in yours. Sure, we are excited about getting to watch someone catch a fish for the first time, hit a bull's-eye, or shatter a clay, but to take this experience and tie it to the story of our salvation is what we truly live for. Our programming department at Sacramento wants to be partners in ministry with YOU. How can we work with you to compliment your ministry? Let us design a week-end where your staff or group can be brought closer together in the great outdoors while standing in awe of what our Creator has blessed us with. We want to get you excited about what Christ wants to do in your life– will you accept the adventure?
Bill McCuaig Executive Director NEWS FLASH 1931 - Unemployment doubled to
16% and 8 million are unemployed in the US, 2nd
year of the depression, 2500 banks in the US fail,
dust bowl generates massive crop failure…and a
group of passionate Methodists begin
Sacramento Methodist Assembly!
Risk Takers……..Re-Thinking Church…….Bold Visionaries!
Characteristics I hope we that love and serve Sacramento strive for.
But the amazing thing is that these characteristics were the driving
force behind those that had the dream to start Sacramento Methodist
Assembly 80 years ago! Times were hard then but because of those
that were not afraid to step out in faith, untold thousands of lives have
been impacted for the Kingdom. As we begin the next 80 years do we
have the same visionary thinking like our leaders of the past?
The Sacramento Board of Directors has embarked on a Strategic
Planning process that we hope will set the direction for exciting future
that lies ahead of us. Gloom and doom, or opportunity? Our attitude
about our future is the one thing we can control. The Sacramento
Staff, Board of Directors and our Advocates look to the future with
optimism and excitement anticipating what God has in store for us.
Help us by going to our website and taking the survey that will help
guide the future of this special place that cries out to all…….
“Come to the Mountain, Let God Refresh Your Soul”!

Sacramento began in 1931 as a summer “assembly” place for youth to come to the mountain and grow closer to Christ. 80 years later, Sacramento continues to welcome all children and youth to the mountaintop where they are invited to encounter God and experience the life changing grace of Jesus Christ. Registration forms are available online beginning March 1st at sacramentoassembly.org
or call the camp office for more details— 800.667.3414

A 2005 survey by the International Bible Society indicated that 83% of all Christians make their commitment to Jesus between the ages of 4 and 14, that is, when they are children or early youth. Please consider blessing a child or youth by donating toward a camping scholarship. Statistics show that you could impact a child’s life for eternity and receive a 100% return on your investment!!

“Every summer when our youth go to church camp, it brings back those special memo-
ries for me. We are so fortunate to have a Methodist church camp in a beautiful place
like Sacramento, and a church family that encourages our youth to go. I imagine
several of them, too, have stories of their own to tell about meeting God in a special
way while at camp, and take it from me—they will never forget it."
By His Love, Robin Gregory
SHAREHOLDERS What is a “Sacramento Shareholder”? This is a program started in 2006 that encourages friends of Sacramento to support an important project that is taking place at SMA. We ask our “Shareholders” to contribute no more than twice a year when we make the “Call” to contribute your “Share” toward a project. Each “Share” is $25, and of course you can support with as many “Shares” as you would like to pledge. This is just one of many important ways you, your church, Sunday school class, youth group, UMW, etc. can have important “ownership” at Sacramento.
Look for the Spring 2011 Shareholder Call coming soon!
STRENGTHENING STAKES This wonderful ministry has been changing lives for 80 years. The infrastructure is aging and needed maintenance and replacement equipment is critical for us to continue to offer a quality camp and retreat experience. Please consider making a gift to help us “Strengthen Our Stakes.”
