Kindergarten Registration

Our Mission: To provide a rigorous academic focus for all students in an

environment that emphasizes responsibility and respect.

Our Vision: Students will develop the essential skills to become higher

level thinkers that will empower them to become respectful, self-disciplined, conscientious, and self-motivated leaders of society.

Our Motto: Rigor, Responsibility, Respect

Combs Traditional Academy is

committed to:

•Nurture children

•Provide children with good role models

•Setting high expectations for all

•Perseverance

•Excellent teaching

Our Philosophy

Combs Traditional Academy is a program of choice. The

acquisition of basic skills, primarily through direct

instruction, is viewed as the foundation of the learning

process. Priority is given to the fundamental tools of

learning in the core academic areas of phonics and

reading; grammar; spelling and writing; mathematics;

history and geography; and science. We believe that

students need a structured learning environment that

minimizes instructional distractions in order to provide

them with the strongest opportunity for academic success.

Structured approach to teaching and learning. ◦ Direct, whole group instruction ◦ Guided practice (begins with whole group) ◦ Collaborative practice ◦ Independent practice

Emphasis on academics, particularly reading, writing, and math. ◦ Higher expectations for behavior – cannot disrupt

the learning of others ◦ Limited interruptions in the school day ◦ Limited field trips and assemblies ◦ Limited recess
