My Tunes: Music ThaT shaped My Life

Valory Music Co. Dir./Nat’l Promotion Chris Loss discusses his most important songs, artists or concerts: 1. Conway Twitty/That’s My Job: Before I was a dad, I would think of my dad when I heard this. I still think of him, but now I also think of [daughter] Bella and our new baby on the way. “Everything I do is because of you to keep you safe with me”.

2. Rascal Flatts/My Wish: Allison and I used this as our wedding song on Dec. 3, 2006. On Dec. 4th, it was the No. 1 country song in the USA. I can remember Mike Moore telling me how this song is everything he would say to his daughter Madison. I totally agree.3. U2/One: Absolutely brilliant! Johnny Cash’s version is killer, too. Saw U2 in concert Thanksgiving weekend 2001 in Phoenix; it was a mind-blowing show. To top it all off, Diamondback [baseball player] Randy Johnson walked out during the encore with the World Series trophy. The crowd went nuts!4. Goo Goo Dolls/Slide: Always reminds me of where I was born and raised (Niagara Falls, NY) as the Goos are from Buffalo. It’s one I truly enjoy butchering during Karaoke! 5. Randy Travis, Shenandoah, Erie, PA, Nov. 8, 1990: I was a freshman at SUNY-Fredonia and a few of us road-tripped to this show, which Alan Jackson opened. I don’t think I’d be in the industry today without that fateful night three days after my 18th birthday. • A highly regarded song or album you’ve never heard: Peter Frampton’s Frampton Comes Alive. • An “important” piece of music/band you just don’t get: Techno is “important” to my wife Allison. It’s one of her guilty pleasures. Me, not so much.• An album you played or listened to incessantly: Viva La Vida from Coldplay is my favorite CD when I’m lifting/doing cardio and just unplugging from life. Chris Martin is insanely talented!• One obscure or non-country song everyone should listen to right now: Michael Jackson’s “Man In The Mirror.” “If you wanna make the world a better place, take a look at yourself and then make a change.” Even more relevant after his death.
