I have taught for 12 years, 10 in 6th grade. I have a masters degree in Literacy and Reading. My husband is also a teacher and a coach for DeWitt Public Schools. I have two young boys. Jack is in first grade and Luke turned 4 last Wednesday. I also coach varsity softball and that keeps me very busy year round.

I believe all children can learn! If they TRY they will not fail! I believe in creating a safe, comfortable

environment where children learn to work as individuals and as part of a team.

I believe attendance, attitude and effort are vitally important to your child’s success.

I believe your child receives the best education when we work together as a team.

Homework will be assigned Monday through Thursday nights and on rare occasions, Friday. Assignments should take no more than one hour to complete each night, not including studying for tests and working on projects. I will give students adequate prior notice before tests and quizzes.

I feel it is important for students to realize that students are in the middle school. I also feel the importance of being consistent throughout the year. Therefore, any assignment will be graded as is on the “due” day. Consequently, incomplete work will be graded as it appears when turned in for that day. If the assignment is not at school on the due date, I will only accept it the following day. The highest grade it can receive is 75%.

Our classroom is part of a pilot program at Mason Middle School that is going to use the web-based GLCE (Grade Level Content Expectations) mastery program called Study Island to enhance our study of mathematics and Language Arts.
