A. Covered by Desert

1. Surrounded by water on three sides.

2. No major rivers and receives little rainfall.

3. Trade with other people developed the growth of towns.

II. Nomadic Bedouins

A. Nomads- people who have no settled home but move from place to place to search for food, water, and pasture for their livestock.

1. Moved from one oasis to another for water as they traveled.

2. Bedouins helped traders through the desert in large groups called caravans.

B. Mecca- the most busy and important trading center.
