Look, Say, Spell Instructions for Spelling Homework
An example for the word "the":
1. Look
Lift the left flap and look at the first spelling word. Only work on one word at a time.
Say
Say the word out loud. Say, "the."
Spell
Spell the word out loud. Spell "t-h-e" and say, "the."
2. Cover
Cover the spelling word by putting the flap down.
3. Write
Lift the middle flap and write the spelling word from memory without looking, "t-h-e."
Check
Lift the left and middle flaps and check to see if you spelled the word correctly. Do not fix errors. Close the middle flap and go back to steps 1 and 2 (Look, Say, Spell, Cover).
Now move on to Step 4, Write Again.
4. Write Again
Lift the right flap and Write the word Again. Lift the left flap and check to see if you spelled the word correctly. This time, fix any mistakes you may have made. Look, Say, and Spell the word again for pratice out loud.
