Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you are enjoying your time with our students in School District 11. We thank you for your gifts of time, talents, patience and life experience that you bring to our students and staff throughout the year. We are thankful for the passage of Ballot

Measure 3E and the support for D11!

Our second GrandFriend training/Senior Sounding Board is scheduled for Friday, December 15. I look forward to seeing you then!

Please remember to let me know if you have moved to a different school. If you need a new placement, or are no longer volunteering, please call Dawn Enger at 520-2311 or email me at dawn.enger@d11.org.

“A Discussion on Safety in Our District”

John McCarron, Assistant Superintendent, Chief Information Officer

Jim Hastings, Commander, Security Operations

We will hear timely information from members of our District 11 Security team about

safety in our schools, our processes, and how all of our volunteers, staff, and families

can be vigilant in assuring our students’ well-being.

“Bright Spots Initiative”

David Engstrom, Assistant Superintendent, Instruction, Curriculum and Support Services

Jeremy Koselak, System Improvement Specialist

Several of our schools have been identified as having high growth in English Language

Arts and Math in the 2016-2017 school year. The Bright Spots Initiative gives schools

the opportunity to share with others the practices they utilized which impacted this

growth. We invite you to learn about this process and how it is being shared around

the district.

PLEASE RSVP to Dawn Enger by December 8 at 520- 2311 or email dawn.enger@d11.org.

MLO CITIZEN OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE

Ballot initiative 3E, the mill levy override, passed by a 57 percent vote during the November 2017 election! Your support is valuable beyond words, and that is why D11 is one of only three large school districts in Colorado that has a citizen’s oversight committee to monitor all MLO funds for accounting accuracy and program benefit. We invite you to

be a part of the citizen’s oversight committee by visiting our web site at www.d11.org and filling out an electronic form. Someone will be in touch with you soon regarding your interest.

Inclement Weather

“Oh the weather outside is frightful”… we all know we will be singing this song soon! This means it’s time to watch our local news or listen to the radio stations for School District 11 closures or delays. Safety for students and staff is District 11’s first priority! If there is inclement weather in your area and D-11 has not closed, please use your best judgement before venturing out. We do not want you to drive or walk if you do not feel safe or comfortable. All you need to do is communicate to your teacher(s) that you will not be coming.

Logging Hours

We value the time our volunteers spend with our students. Please be sure to keep track of your hours throughout the year. Check at your school’s front desk to see how your time will be tracked. If you would like to log your hours online, please contact me and I will be happy to assist you.
