Features for livingAnimals and plants have special features to help them survive in their habitat. They are adapted to their way of life.

This robin fluffs up its feathers when cold. The feathers trap air like a sleeping bag or duvet

Many trees lose their leaves in the autumn. Without leaves, they need less water. So they can survive when the ground is frozen.

Surviving the winter

Camouflage Peppered moths are difficult to see against a tree. So they probably won’t get eaten by a bird.

The chameleon has a long tongue which it flicks out to catch insects.The chameleon is also very good at camouflage. It can change colour to match its background.
