The University of Tennessee atMartin Department of Nursinghas 13 full-time faculty membersand more than 300 NursingMajors.

The Department has a proud andsuccessful history in educatingnurses. The University now offersWest Tennessee's only basic baccalaureate program in nursingat a public institution outsideMemphis. Accredited by theNational League for Nursing, theBachelor of Science in Nursingdegree program is a four-yearprogram which combines generaleducation and nursing.

Career PossibilitiesA need for professional nurses with a wide variety of practice options allows great flexibility and mobility forgraduates. Graduates with a baccalaureate in nursing canchoose from a wide range of options. Graduate degrees at the master's and doctoral levels allow greater specialization and further expand job opportunities. UT Martin nursing faculty are committed to mentoring students and to advancing the profession of nursingthrough a variety of scholarly activities and service toboth the campus and community.

Practical laboratory experiences are held in the departmental labs with patient care and skill stationscontaining health care simulators, equipment, and supplies for student instruction and practice. Numerousvideotapes, DVDs, and interactive CDs are available forstudent viewing.

Off-campus clinical laboratory experiences are taught byUT Martin nursing faculty in area health-care agencieswithin a 50-mile radius of UT Martin.
