Dear compatriots and
friends:
Argentines around the
world are preparing to
celebrate Independence
Day on July 9th, and in
Australia community
groups will organize
events to get together both
our community and our
Latin American brothers
and sisters and our Aus-
tralian friends. These oc-
casions are important to
reflect on the process that
led to Argentina taking its
future in its own hands
and on its two centuries of
proud history as an inde-
pendent nation.
Examples of that proud
heritage and of the quality
and diversity that Argen-
tina has to offer in the
field of the arts, culture
and sports, could be found
in the present Bulletin.
They range from the par-
ticipation of world recog-
nized artists like Jorge
Macchi in the Sydney Bi-
ennale to the start of the
participation of our na-
tional rugby union team,
Los Pumas, in the Rugby
Championship, which re-
places the Three Nations
Cup and puts Argentina in
the major leagues of
world rugby together with
Australia, New Zealand
and South Africa. The
