Scottish ‘forinsec’ service:-able-bodied men for 40 days a year,without pay. Along with knights, archers, men-at-arms owed by feudalgrants.

English professional army;-Commissioners of Array could selectbest infantry and archers from eachcounty. Lords would have retinues ofknights, esquires etc.. Paid daily wage.
