Gartner also places this areaas a active area of interest in the Hype Cycle.

The IoT Infrastructure companies covered here include Hardware and Software providers for developing IoT Applications orServices. It also covers Network Service Providers and Enablers, specifically for IoT applications and includes UnlicensedSpectrums and alliances like Sigfox, LoRaWAN, etc.
