TIPS WHILE MAKING A PARIS ITINERARY
1. Museum Pass: Consider getting one of these and plan your schedule around it. Remember,
the Museum Pass is to be used on consecutive days from the first time you use it.
2. Holidays (it’s best to also check on the site directly for additional information and other
National holidays when they might be shut):
Musée du Louvre: Free first Sunday of the month, open every day except Tuesdays
Musée de l’Orangerie: Open every day except Tuesdays
Musée d’Orsay: Open every day except Mondays (open late until 9.45 pm on
Thursdays)
Musée Rodin: Under renovation until April 2012
Musée Cluny: Free first Sunday of the month, open every day except Tuesdays
Catacombes de Paris: Open every day except Mondays
Musée Marmottan: Open every day except Mondays
Centre Pompidou: Open every day except Tuesdays
3. Leave a day free. There’s lots that can happen to change your schedule. You can skip a
crowded museum and push it to the free day. A fantastic lunch might just spill into something
you’ve planned. And don’t be worried about what you’re going to do on that free day if
everything goes as per plan. A free day is the best thing to have in Paris!
4. DO NOT FILL YOUR ITINERARY. This is true for any destination you’re going to and
more so for Paris. Walk around without a plan, spend an hour on a park bench watching
Parisians, watch shadows change sitting outside a café.
5. Get lost. Some of the nicest things we discovered during our trip was because we got lost.
And don’t worry if you do get lost. A Metro Station is never too far away and contrary to
everything you might have heard, Parisians are really helpful (as long as you’re polite and
pleasant yourself!).
6. You cannot see everything there is to see. Paris is best enjoyed slow, without dashing madly
between museums, and posing for pictures at monuments without actually stopping to
experience them.
7. We suggest that you connect with the apartment Concierge for local Metro, Train or Cab
Services. If you wish to have a meet and greet at the airport we still have time to arrange this.
