July & AugustAs part of the Sydenham Arts Festival, I exhibited work at ‘On the Hoof’ bistro on the high street so it seemed a good opportunity to do some sketches of the interior.

SeptemberDrawing the preparations for a pop-up saffron farm on a demolition site in the centre of Croydon. The plan was to plant over 20,000 crocus sativus corms and harvest the crop before Christmas.

Something old and something

new(ish) in Croydon –

NovemberBack to capture the saffron being carefully harvested at Croydon Saffron Central. The harvesters used tweezers to collect the orange strands from the centre of each of the flowers, putting them into small jars, ready to be taken offsite to be dried.

NovemberAnother trip out with the

London Urban Sketchers, this time at a very busy Borough

Market. Always a great venue for

drawing, I had a go at sketching the complicated roof structure and also the little oval-shaped

building, used as the setting for Bridget Jones’ flat in the film

“Bridget Jones’ Diary”.
