Ion Irimescu (1903 – 2005) was one of Romania's greatest sculptors. Until 1933 he participated at the Salon d'Automne and Salon du Printemps in Paris, receiving in 1932 the Honorary Mention of the Société des Artistes Français for his self-portrait.Corneliu Baba

Located in Fãlticeni, "Ion Irimescu" Art Museum was founded in 1974 and it houses the largest author collection in Romania, and it represents the donation made by sculptor Ion Irimescu. The building, a historical monument, was built in the mid nineteenth century and had various destinations, until 1974 when it was assigned to the art museum.

The collection contains the artist’s work and it consists of over 300 sculptures and about 1,000 drawings. The sculptures exhibited inside the museum represent portraits, compositions, monument cut-outs, made in ronde-bosse or the relief technique.

His works are created in the style of his own temperament and vision and it combines the traditional indigenous ethos with the classical and modern art movements, blending into an original synthesis. The museum also includes the artist's personal library consisting of about 1500 volumes.
