Munay Taquile is the first community based tourism agency in the region Puno. In quechua Munay Taquile means ”Beautiful Taquile”.

If you choose to visit Taquile and if you choose to utilize Munay Taquile, you have chosen FAIR Tourism. That means your stay in Taquile will benefit the local people, through fair prices and according to services and responsibility for environment and culture. We hope you will stay in the island for more than a couple of hours, and enjoy the atmosphere and the hospitality of the people.

Munay Taquile es la primera agencia de turismo comunitario de la región Puno. En Quechua Munay Taquile significa ”TAquile Bonito”.

Si decides visitar Taquile y elijes ir por Munay Taquile, has elejido el Turismo Responsable. Esto significa que con tu estadía en Taquile beneficiarás a la gente local, a través del precio justo y de acuerdo a los servicios y responsabilidades con el medio ambiente y la cultura.

Where to stay? It is worthwhile to stay in Taquile for at least one day and one night.

The experience to join the family life and to participate in the activities that can be everything from special celebrations to daily activities like collecting water or harvesting is somewhat another holiday experience. An experience that certainly will have some impact on your thoughts and beliefs about people living in this part of the world. We are quite sure that a small part of Taquile afterwards will remain in your heart.

In this small folder, you will find a presentation of the community members in Munay Taquile that offer hosting and guiding. In Taquile we offer three types of accommodations, Hotel Rural, Hostel Rural and Homes. The Hotel Rural has the highest service and facilities and the homes represented are more basic households. We are sure you will find the accommodations the suits your requests in this folder. You will as well find a list of local trained guides, in the folder. We recommend highly that you invest money and spend time with at local guide to get the knowledge adequate about the island, the taquilean culture and traditions.

La experiencia de unirse a la vida familiar y participar de las actividades como las celebraciones especiales, las actividades diarias, el recojo del agua o la agricultura que son experiencias diferentes para las vacaciones. Una experiencia que seguramente tendrá un impacto en sus pensamientos y creencias sobre las personas que viven en esta parte del mundo. Estamos seguros que después de esta experiencia una pequeña parte de Taquile permanecerá en su corazón.En esta pequeña carpeta podrá encontrar una presentación de los miembros de la comunidad, socios de Munay Taquile, que ofrecen servicios de hospedaje y guianza. En Taquile ofrecemos tres tipos de alojamiento, el Hotel Rural, Hostal Rural y las Casas rurales. El Hotel Rural cuenta con mejor servicio e instalaciones, las casas rurales representan los hogares con los servicios mas básicos. La comida se sirve principalmente en el comedor, pero los grupos pequeños pueden comer en la cocina. La comida de la casa es sopa típica de la isla (maíz, quinua y cebada), tortilla de verduras, ensaladas y pescado. Desayuno, pankake con mermelada o miel, café o maté. Los actividades para grupos son taller de artesanía, música y bailes. Para grupos hasta 4 personas, introducción a la artesanía, el tejido, caminatas, cuentos y fogata en la noche.

El viaje a Taquile es tres horas, si hay gente para visitar a Uros, el viaje dura una hora mas, llegando a Taquile al medio dia. El retorno es siempre a las 14.20pm desde el Puerto Chilchano, llegando a Puno a las 17.30pm. Recomendación: Lleve agua, frutas o snack para el viaje.
