Design Verdict
The design of the Bushnell Legend Ultra HD 8 x 42 Binoculars is really beautiful.
Worth? I must say, yes!
Bushnell uses ED Prime Glass in these binoculars. ED Prime Glass, also o referred to as Extra-low Dispersion Fluorite glass is a special glass that is specially designed to produce clean and clear images consistently. The technology behind this special glass gives special considerations to viewing objects in scenarios which are not well-lighted.
ED Prime Glass
Here the Bushnell most certainly has the edge and at 6.5ft, their minimum focus distance is not quite excellent, but is very good for a full sized binocular. Once again though for most people, who mostly use their bins for viewing distant objects the 8.2ft distance you get on the Vanguard should be enough.
However if you like to view objects like flowers, butterflies end even some birds from close ranges, then the closer advertised distance of the Bushnell is definitely something to keep in mind.
Something to also take note of is that many binoculars can actually focus to a closer distance than what they advertise. I guess this is just so that they give themselves a margin for error.

The Negatives
Q: How much do they weigh and are they really worth the money A: I use them for birding and have been very satisfied. My son uses Nikon Monarch 5 and we agree that they are both well made. Not sure on the weight but the Bushnells come with a nifty harness.
Q: Are these good binoculars to use if you wear glasses?A: Yes, you just would NOT use the "twist up eye cups" that help those not wearing glasses get the proper fit.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
These are a great bargain. I own many binoculars, including Swarofskis. I purchased these for their wide angle, light wt. and ED glass. They are superb! However, the first day out, the outer lens caps slid off and I only found one. I called Bushnell; first they said a replacement would be sent; next I received a form letter stating that they could not fulfill my request; I called Customer Service and was told that the company decided not to stock replacement lens caps!!!!!!!! So one needs to put a drop of glue or silicon on the ring to hold it on the binocular when you pop the cap off.
