Getting There

Manchester is easily accessible by all forms of transport.

For those travelling by car they will find M60 ring road the easiest route to get in and out of the city, as the centre is well signposted from here.

With connections to all the major UK cities Manchester is easily accessible by rail. If you wish to travel by rail you have a choice of 3 major rail stations, with Victoria and Oxford Road playing second fiddle to the larger Piccadilly station.

Manchester Airport is also close by and is serviced by regular trains from both Piccadilly and Oxford Road.

Getting Around

With one of the busiest bus routes in Europe, and a Tram network that spreads out across the Greater Manchester region, you will have no problems travelling around the city.

Buses run regularly through the city centre from Piccadilly Gardens, out across the region. The tram network also spans out through the area, connecting the likes of Oldham, Salford, Bury and Rochdale to Manchester City Centre

Manchester Attractions

Manchester has plenty of things to keep you entertained throughout your break. Celebrate the cities industrial past at the Museum of Science and Industry

Young families may want to take in a couple of hours at the Legoland Discover Centre. With a 4D cinema, rides and a range of other treats, this is bound to keep the children entertained! For football fans, Manchester offers a real treat. Not only is it home to the reigning Premier League Champions, Manchester City, but it is also now home to the National Football Museum, which recently relocated to the stunning Urbis building. Footy fans may also want to take a tour of the ‘Theatre of Dreams’ home to Manchester United.

Manchester Shopping

For the shopaholics, Manchester has a fantastic range of high street brands, fashionable boutiques, and quirky market stalls. The city centres main shopping area centres around Market Street and the popular Arndale Centre.

Away from the city centre, is the popular Trafford Centre, one of the largest shopping centres in the UK. With regular bus services running from the city centre, you will find getting to the Trafford Centre simple and before you know it you can be in shopping heaven in no time!

Manchester Nightlife

When night time falls in Manchester the city transforms as its vibrant night culture takes hold. Though the days of the Hacienda are dead and gone, its legend lives on through the veins of the city’s nightlife. With clubs and bars with every type of music on offer, there really is something for all tastes.

The bars of the Northern Quarter have become the place to spend your nights in Manchester. With trendy and quirky bars aplenty, you can enjoy a night like no other!

Music Scene

Music is what Manchester is famed for. Through the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s Manchester became the centre for some of the greatest British bands of that era. From Joy Division to Oasis, and the Stone Roses to The Smiths, Mancunian musicians well and truly have left their mark on the industry.

Today this heritage lives on in the cities vast music scene. The city’s venues are regular calling points for the biggest bands in the world. Venues range from the massive MEN Arena and the University based Manchester Academy, to the smaller yet superbly intimate venues such as The Deaf Institute and Night and Day.

Manchester Entertainment

Its not all pubs and clubs in Manchester. The city is home to the Palace Theatre which regularly houses the biggest West End productions

The city is also home to one of the most famous Orchestras in the World; The Halle Orchestra. Founded by Sir Charles Halle in 1858, they have been resident at Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall since moving from the City’s Free Trade Hall in 1996.
