10 Things to do in NYC this FallBy KUSH MAHAN

– P.G. Wodehouse, Carry on, Jeeves

“What's the use of a great city having temptations if fellows don't yield to them?”

1. Feast at the NYC Wine &

Food Festival

Now is the prime time for feasting on delicious fall foods, and where better to do it than at the biggest

food and wine event the city has to offer?

2. Celebrate Oktoberfest at a beer garden

You may not be able to jet to Germany this fall, but that doesn't mean you can't partake in some good old-fashioned Bavarian-style fun. Head to one of NYC's best beer gardens for authentic brews, comfort food and a guaranteed good time.

3. Dress up (or just people

watch) at New York Comic Con

Comic book, video game and anime fans will convene at the Javitz Center Oct. 9-12, dressed in their character-inspired best.

Get festive and join them (if you can get your hands on a ticket) or get in on the fun at one of the many special events leading up to the convention, including author talks, the Nerd Rocks Music Festival, and a live trivia spectacular.

4. Catch a flick at the New York

Film Festival

The New York Film Festival returns Sept. 26-Oct. 12, with 30 films to

see, including "Maps to the Stars," in which Robert Pattinson is

chauffeur to a fading Hollywood star played by Julianne Moore, plus

highly anticipated novel-turned-film "Gone Girl" and "Inherent Vice."

5. Pick pumpkins at Queens County Farm

Pumpkin picking is on everyone's fall bucket list, and there's no need to leave city boundaries to do it. The Queen County Farm pumpkin patch is open Saturdays and Sundays, Oct. 4-26 from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

6. Gaze at fall foliage

Concrete jungle, so what? You don't have to trek upstate or to Long Island to revel in the colors of fall. Hop on board a Classic Harbor Line vessel for a foliage-filled tour of the Upper West Side, Hudson River Valley and Palisades Park, enjoying brunch while you get your seasonal photos in.

7. Get weird at a Halloween

parade

It's not Halloween in New York City until you've put on you craziest

outfit and danced in the street at the Greenwich Village Halloween Parade-- or at least watched, part

amused and part terrified, from the sidelines.

8. Run, volunteer or cheer at the NYC Marathon

The New York City Marathon is, as its site says, a "26.2-mile block party." So why not join in on the fun?

The general-entry drawing is closed, but you can still run for one of the race's official charities on Nov. 2. Or, if you'd rather go easy on your legs, sign up to volunteer, or just show up along the route, preferably with an encouraging sign and a smile.

9. Sip the city's best pumpkin

spice latte

Of all the pumpkin-flavored treats being obsessed over this fall, the famous pumpkin spiced latte may take the cake.

But who makes the best cup in the city? We performed a taste test and found our favorite... take our advice, or do some tasty research of your own. You know, in the name of science.

10. Witness the Macy's

Thanksgiving Day Parade's 'Inflation Eve'

While most college students and 20-somethings spend Thanksgiving Eve at the local watering hole, head

to the Museum of Natural History for a magical night of watching the

giant parade characters come to life before your eyes. Inflation begins at 3 p.m. and usually wraps around 10

p.m.

Enjoy Fall.
