Lavish Living: The Best Apartments in

New York CityBy Kush Mahan

For anyone who lives in NYC, apartment hunting is almost always a nightmare. How can so little space cost so much?! And gentrification has made the once more modestly-priced, (relatively speaking), Brooklyn locales virtually unaffordable.

That's not even counting the insane broker fee you'll have to pay to just look at cramped, overpriced spaces. That said, it can be fun to go to the opposite end of the spectrum- see how the other half lives and what the most lavish apartment complexes in NYC have to offer. A recent article in thrillest gives us a peek inside some of these rockstar-worthy living situations.

1. The Residences at Mandarin Oriental

• Wouldn't it be nice to live in a place that offers you services like a luxury hotel? Well, if you've got the bankroll to afford condos at the Mandarin Oriental, you absolutely can live in what is basically an extravagant hotel, complete with housekeeping, a valet service, 24 hr concierge services and in-residence dining. Not to mention there's a mall right downstair and a Whole Foods Market in the basement. Could it get any better? Probably not.

2. 200 Eleventh Avenue• Offering nineteen stories of

luxury condos and a breathtaking view of the Hudson River, 200 Eleventh is not a bad gig. Throw a health club in there and the unique touch of a, "sky garage," it's no wonder this place is ranked among the best of the best. What's a sky garage, you ask? Oh, just an elevator that transports you right to your unit, while still seated comfortably in your vehicle. No biggie.

3. One57• Currently the most coveted

property on what's known as, "Billionaire's Row," this 90 story complex towers above it's competition, literally. And why shouldn't it? The place is complete with a private screening and performance venue, a private fitness/yoga complex, a jaw-dropping library, (complete with an aquarium and billiards tables), an atelier studio for arts and crafts and a full catering kitchen, just to name a few of their lavish amenities. Hard to believe this place even exists, but it does, and the tenants love it.

4. ohm• Constructed in 2010, rentals at

ohm are a more recent addition to the world of posh pads in NYC. The building is situated across the street from the highline and offers a beautiful gym with a view of the hudson, as well as an expertly landscaped skydeck. They also have a video arcade, live music from The Knitting Factory, and a 3,400sqft lounge that's decked out with a big-screen TV, shuffleboard, a fireplace, card tables, and billiards. All that, not even including the services they offer to tenants, which ranges from shoe repair, to dry cleaning, to dog walking. You couldn't be inconvenienced if you tried.

5. 15 Central Park West

• A storied and well-known property, this gorgeous Art Deco edifice is a product Robert A.M. Stern designs. This place is old-school, but with new-school amenities, including a private dining room, a luxury library with walnut-paneled walls, private wine cellars, a health club, and a pool. And lest you forget- you're right in the heart of Manhattan with Central Park as your back yard.

These are just a few of the hot spots of lavish living in the city. Read more about them at thrillist.com, and see

more of them in your dreams. Maybe one day these incredible pads will be a

reality, so here's to hoping.
