Why LED Bulbs Quoted as “Electricity Savers” Electricity consumption results up to 30% burning of the home budget on an average. It has been revealed that power used to illuminate single incandescent bulb costs 10 times of the actual price of the lamp. To overcome such a massive dispute of useless power consumption, Compact Fluorescent Lights (CFL) and Light Emitting Diode (LED) came into existence. The use of CFL lamps for lighting purposes has amicably replaced the traditional incandescent bulbs through fitting into the standard light sockets to illuminate many residential, commercial and industrial areas.

Many researchers are attempting to make these energy-efficient light more economical to the consumers through applying silicon wafers in the place of sapphire giving the extra-ordinary illumination to the given domain or place. According to Environmental Protection Agency reports, the average replacement of one standard incandescent light bulb with an LED bulbs help in annual savings of $500 million in energy costs resulting in illuminating 4 million homes yearly across the world.

How LED lights support electricity saving scenario?

The light emitting diodes consumes 2-18 watts of electricity on average basis that comes out to 1/3rd consumption of power than traditional or CFL bulbs. It is the best option for extended battery life. When you choose the LED bulb with 9W, it is equal to give a power input of 45W incandescent lamp. However, Federal Trade Commission has changed the policy of comparing power consumption for lighting lamps as Lumens. This results in drawing the comparison of light bulbs through brightness measurement. To support its energy-efficient criteria, these lamps have to pass the certification including Energy Star, FCC and UL.

These power saver bulbs come in different ways as follows –

Diffused light – this unique style of light comes with a clustered dimple lens that light up the entire country with warm blue light. It is best to use in rooms, table lamps, porches, hallways, accent lamps, garden, etc.

Dimmable globe lamps – it is perfect for bathroom vanities giving global brightness to the area. It covers 200 degree beam angle to cast light with 10 watts of power consumption into the arena.

Pin base track lights – these are ideal for continuous illumination and do not get heated. They are 90% more efficient than traditional lamps. It is perfect for industrial sector requiring long hour lighting facility.

Flood reflector or recessed cans – it is widely available in recessed forms used to lighten housing areas. These come with a wide range of 7.5 to 17 watts of dimmable category. The best example to this is gu10 50w LED halogen bulbs widely used for kitchen and bathroom ceilings, pubs, shopping centres, etc.

Candelabra base – a perfect substitute to traditional bulbs used to deliver a lighting source up to 3.5 watts in comparison to 35 watts of incandescent bulb.

LED tubes – the magnificent tube providing a light source between 8 and 16 watts and replace the old tubes power consumption from 25 to 40 watts. These are widely used for homes, offices and commercial buildings.
