In this era of technology advancement, online meetings are increasingly becoming the

mainstay in many organizations. With the enhancements in technology, the whole

phase has become web-based introducing the buzz word, ‘Web Conferencing’ or

‘Online Meeting’.

Most web conferencing tools today provide chat and poll options. However, in online

meetings, to make sure the audience is involved throughout the presentation it

becomes necessary to include more advanced activities so that the session could get

more interactive. Inclusion of various group activities such as some quiz, brainstorm,

ice breakers etc… would provide a unique and different way of involving the audience

and would also assure that the audience is with the presenter at any given point of

time. This is where YawnBuster® helps with its wide range of group activities.

Also, using YawnBuster® Connect with such activities in large meetings helps the

presenter to focus on the content of the presentation. YawnBuster® Connect collects

information from the audience and collates them and presents it in the slide for others

to view.

Online meeting tools have usually two mode of sharing: Screen and document. Screen

sharing refers to sharing of presenter’s screen to the audience. Document sharing

implies on uploading a document to be showcased in the session. The document

shared could also be used by audience even when they are offline. Audience gets a

copy of the document to view and hence presenter need not share his/her screen to

show the presentation to the audience.

This document explains the various aspects of YawnBuster® and YawnBuster® Connect

and also it’s working in online meetings and the two modes of sharing mentioned

above.

YawnBuster® brings alive the PowerPoint slides with Group Activities such as audience

polls, games, group exercises and competitions. YawnBuster® software helps add

group activities to your PowerPoint presentations. Once YawnBuster is installed, it

appears as a menu inside PowerPoint. While preparing a slide, one can simply select

this menu to add a group activity to the slide.

YawnBuster® Connect:

YawnBuster® Connect is the next generation of Audience Response System (ARS). It

redefines interaction levels in presentation sessions. This lets presenters and speakers

connect, collect, view and share audience responses in real time without the need for

any traditional responders such as clickers, slammers or buzzers.

Basically, an audience response system allows groups of people to vote for an option

by answering a question.

YawnBuster® Connect is a free of hardware, web-based audience response system

which works for both online meetings and webinars as well as in-person seminars and

lectures. Attendees need just a mobile device or a laptop to become an active part of

the session. The audience can interact with the YawnBuster® Group Activities

embedded in presentation by simply visiting a URL on their mobile phone or laptop’s

web browser.

This table explains the best modes for using YawnBuster® and YawnBuster® Connect

with all the major online meeting tools on the basis of screen sharing and document

sharing. The following table illustrates the use of YawnBuster® with these tools in

these two modes of their operation.

As the above table indicates,

YawnBuster® and YawnBuster® Connect are useful only if the presenter uses them in

screen sharing mode. YawnBuster would not be suitable for meetings which are

conducted in document sharing mode.

As explained earlier, in document sharing mode every person in the audience gets his

or her own copy of the presentation. YawnBuster® and YawnBuster® Connect is about

collecting information from the audience and then collating and presenting it in the

form of graphs, charts and other interactive mediums in real time. It comes as an add-

in to PowerPoint software, and hence, works on presenter’s machine where it helps the
