Datasheet for TP22 & TP38 TP22_10 and TP22_50 The TOPS-PIN TP22 represents a new generation in microspotting pins providing unrivalled benefits to the customers such as: Reduced assay time More reliable results Competitive pricing Plug & play Customisable pins The TOPS-PIN TP22 is designed and manufactured with a combination of silicon and stainless steel materials. This enables the TP22 to combine the durability of the silicon material with the “plug and play” features build in by the steel guide. The TOPS-PIN TP22 can be used in any existing microarray robot on the market. The TP22 is directly interchangeable with existing microspotting pins and do not require modifications to the pin holder or robot. Applications The TOPS-PIN TP22 is able to deposit sub- nanoliter amounts of liquid onto surfaces to generate microarrays. The pin is specifically suited for microarrays, DNA-arrays and protein arrays. The pin can be used for deposition of organic material like cells, virus, DNA, RNA, proteins, peptides etc. Description The main pin is made in silicon that doesn’t wear out as traditional steel or tungsten pins. The TP22 comes with a tapered tip and a slot in one end. The TOPS-PIN TP22 is 22.3 mm but will in December 2004 also be available in a 38.2 mm long version (TP38). A collar in the end in combination with a steel guide ensures precisely control of three-dimensional movement. The pin moves almost frictionless in the holder in a vertical position with the tip down, the collar prevents it from falling out and facilitates the alignment of the pin. The pin aspirates liquid from a well/microtiter plate by dipping the tip herein. Capillary forces draw liquid into the slot and into a closed cavity inside the pin. The closed cavity prevents evaporation of the liquid. The pin attached in the robot is then moved over the substrate and dispenses liquid when the tip touches the surface of the substrate. A single uptake can print up to 10.000 spots, and the TP22 pin prints uniformly homogenous, circular quality from the first to the last spot. Please contact us if special versions with downscaled spot size are required for medium to high density arrays.
