What is the SSMM?

• The social media manager is a volunteer responsible for assisting with the social media strategy for the TAG societies

• The volunteer will be one of several individuals working to create a large social media footprint for the society and for TAG

Description of the SSMM

• Identify, manage, and grow society presence on Internet based social communities (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, TAGthink.com)

• Produce quality, timely content for audience members • Research relevant topics and extrapolate data pertinent to the society • Increase the social media following for the society• Manage group page on TAGthink.com • Monthly meetings with other social media coordinators to address issues,

review accomplishments, and compare goals• Act as a liaison between the social media committee, the society’s board

of directors, and the TAG staff • Work with TAG Director of Business Services for all initiatives

• Content: timely, 30% promotional and 70% educational, tweet things you would re-tweet, thought-provoking articles, tips and statistics

• Frequency: 1-2 tweets a day• Check for direct messages, re-tweet and mentions• Encourage society members to follow; follow

relevant people back • #WhereGALeads • Suggestions?

• Society Twitter RSS feed will be set up for each LinkedIn page to supply daily content

• SSMMs are encourage to post event info• Suggestions?

•Content: pictures from events, conversation starters (most important thing you learned at the last event), links to relevant articles, videos, giving event info with links to register

•Frequency of posts: 1-2 times per week at minimum – Thursdays tend to be a day where more impressions are made

•Info section: List as much information as possible (liaison for the contact, board members, link to respective TAG society page, meeting location)

Social Media Guidelines

• Be transparent and state that you work at or volunteer for TAG. Your honesty will be noted in the social media environment.

• Never represent yourself or TAG, a TAG member or TAG member company in a false or misleading way. All statements must be true and not misleading; all claims must be substantiated.

• Post meaningful, respectful comments — in other words, please, no spam and no remarks that are off-topic or offensive.

• Use common sense and common courtesy. • Stick to your area of expertise and do feel free to provide unique, individual perspectives on non-

confidential activities at TAG.

• When disagreeing with others' opinions, keep it appropriate and polite.

• If you want to write about a TAG member or TAG member company, make sure you behave diplomatically, have the facts straight and that you have the appropriate permissions.

• Please never comment on anything related to legal matters, litigation, or any parties TAG, TAG

members or TAG member companies may be in litigation with. • Never participate in social media when the topic being discussed may be considered a crisis

situation. • Be smart about protecting yourself, your privacy, and TAG’s confidential information.

• TAG social media passwords must not be shared beyond the SSMM without prior notice to TAG. Additionally passwords must not be changed by anyone other than a TAG employee. All TAG social media passwords will be changed by a TAG employee every 3-6 months for security purposes.
