Your membership of a standardisation committee comprises a core service identical for all members of the committee. In addition to this, you and your committee have the option to select the services relevant for the committee. You can buy two supplementary services packages: knowledge or influ-ence – or both services with a discount. The supplementary services should be selected by the committee in common. Danish Standards will place the committee on a level of high or regular activity, depending on how many committees and work items your committee follows.

The core service is the mandatory membership structured around the necessary processes for the standard through-out its entire life cycle. You will gain access to facilities and knowledge, which primarily relate to the standards of the committee. In addition, we agree on a strategy together with the committee that defines which issues and cases the com-mittee focuses on.

The committee can select between the supplementary services packages knowledge or influence – or both packages with a discount. If the committee selects one or both supplementary services packages, we will finance travel costs for the chair-man of the committee or a representative in his/her place for a meeting in the relevant European or international committee. We also offer to send a representative from Danish Standards to the same type of meetings to ensure influence in the inter-national standardisation process, or to collect knowledge for the committee in accordance with priorities of the committee. There is a financial ceiling for both travelling options.

We are able to influence requirements for the product through international standardisation and achieve a faster and cheaper introduction to the market.

• You and your committee will be provided with help to make a strategy for next year’s committee work

• You and your committee will be provided with support based on technical standardisation skills

• You and your committee will be provided with access through ekomité (internet-based database system?) to all relevant documents that your committee is responsible for, including proposals and final standards

• You will gain an overview of all important deadlines on the frontpage of ekomité

• You will have access to a national and international network through participation in the meetings of the Danish, Euro-pean and international committees and working groups

• You will be invited to participate, free of charge, in classes about international and European standardisation at the DS University

Supplementary services package: Influence

By purchasing Influence, you and the other committee mem-bers will receive extended help and sparring to promote your interests and key issues. The person responsible for the com-mittee will make sure that you and the committee will gain optimal influence as a result of your efforts, e.g. by using our international network. This may also take place directly through the working groups where proposals are prepared and comments are treated.

Services may include:

• Through the expertise of Danish Standards the committee will receive extended help and sparring for strategic and tac-tic promotion of interests and key issues of the committee

• The committee will receive sparring and help to process its proposals quickly and effectively

• The committee will receive help to formulate its comments for proposals and important committee documents

• The committee will grain increased influence through ac-cess to international networks and alliances through Danish Standards

• The committee will be able to promote its interests when Danish Standards prepares Danish committee representa-tives for participation in national and international meetings

• The committee will become part of a professional network and will, therefore, be able to discuss technical, business-related and political aspects of the standards and their use

• The committee will be able to communicate relevant input to the political system

• The committee will gain a broader media coverage of its work and performance, e.g. through press releases and articles

• The committee will decide how often meetings should be held

When you and the committee buy Knowledge, you will receive extended help and sparring to acquire knowledge on the con-tent of standards as well as the connection to related standards and committee work. The person responsible for the com-mittee? safeguards a large degree of knowledge sharing and exchange of experiences on the meetings of the committee, e.g. by inviting an external speaker.

Services may include:

• The committee will be updated on the general connection between directives, legislation and relevant standards

• The committee will continuously receive information on the development within standardisation

• The committee will be updated with a status on the devel-opment in associated international or European committees

• The committee will receive information on standardisation initiatives and statuses of closely related committees

• One member of the committee can follow relevant work in one other committee as a liaison

• Through the network, the committee will be able to cre-ate an overview of the most important technical questions related to relevant standards

• The committee will gain a broader media coverage of its work and performance, e.g. through press releases and articles

• The committee will become part of a professional network and will be able to decide on issues to be addressed in the committee

• The committee will decide how often meetings should be held

The prices apply as from January 1, 2013. Payment for par-ticipation in the committee will be invoiced in advance and applies to the period 1 January to 31 December. If you wish to cancel your membership, the cancellation is to be sub-mitted in writing before 1 January. The information provided in this publication may be subject to errors and amendments.

FAQ What is the most important advantage you gain by buying Knowledge?

The chance actively to import knowledge from the sur-rounding world to the committee, e.g. on connections between legislation, directives and standards, overview of international standardisation work and information on the development of related committees.

What is most important advantage you gain by buying Influence?

The chance to actively influence the surrounding world, e.g. strategic and tactic help to promote Danish key issues and the possibility to draw on international alliances and net-works through Danish Standards.

How will Danish Standards make technical knowledge available/accessible?

We draw on internal and external specialists in both technical and strategic terms. We can for example collect expert know-ledge in consultation with the committee, e.g. from research environments or universities.

Is it possible for the members of a committee independently to select supplementary services?

Unfortunately not. It is the committee that selects supple-mentary services. The committee must agree on in common which supplementary services to buy.

Is it possible to select some aspects of Knowledge and some of Influence?

Yes, if both supplementary services packages are selected. When Knowledge and Influence are both selected, there is a discount of DKK 1,000, so the additional expenditure is limited. The list of services examples should be considered a catalogue to select from freely, when paying for the services package to which the service pertains.

Is a discount obtained if several committees are attended?

Unfortunately not. There is, however, a discount on the core service if several members participate in the same commit-tee and come from the same company or organisation.

Does the chairman choose the travels to be financed by Danish Standards if the committee has acquired supplemen-tary services?

No, prioritisation should take place in consultation with the committee.
