reported that 91% of adults using the

internet use social media

Why it should be used in college classrooms

Jumping into a new college is AWKWARD Social Media provides a base where

students feel comfortable and therefore flourish

• College is about create bonds, friendships, and learning how to network• There is no better place to do this in

the professional world than on the internet

Not Satisfied…Here’s More• Keeps students interested in class, with sites that

interest them in their personal lives eex. Twitter, Facebook, MySpace

• Students are comfortable using these tools, boosting their confidence in the classroom

• March of 2011- study proved “Students on Twitter engaged more than the control group (not on Twitter), and also increased the amount of teacher engagement with the students. Additionally, the Twitter group had over a half point more GPA in first semester grades” (Braziel, 2011).

become increasingly difficult for college grads to find jobs out of

college…until now

Now matter what your passion is, there is a place you can represent it within social media.

Social Media will give students a way to interact with their classes, but it will also give

students a career opportunity that is not known to many

It would teach students how to use this tools and to profit from them

There is room for everyone on the web
