SCKIPIO DEMONSTRATES AT CES WORLD’S FIRST UHDTV RUNNING ACROSS A G.FAST TELEPHONE NETWORK SUPPORT FOR 4K UHDTV SERVICES BY TELCOS NOW VALIDATED January 5, 2015, International CES, Las Vegas, Nevada Sckipio Technologies, the leader in G.fast chipsets, announced the world’s first public demo of ultra-high definition television over a G.fast ultra-broadband network. “Consumers want their broadband supplier to support 4K TV services,” said David Baum, CEO of Sckipio Technologies. “However, DSL isn’t fast enough. Only Sckipio’s G.fast solution today is proven to deliver UHDTV over real-world telco environments to up to 16 concurrent subscribers per distribution point.” G.fast is the new ultra broadband access standard approved by the ITU in December 2014. This standard is designed to support up to 1Gbps of broadband access to consumers over existing telephone wires. The typical G.fast deployment has subscribers connected through a distribution point close to the home. From there, it connects via fiber to the central office. The Sckipio solution is the only G.fast solution to support 16 concurrent subscribers on one distribution point. The mass deployment of UHDTV services is limited by the availability of high bandwidth broadband access – especially for telephone-based broadband service providers. To support four separate streams of 4K broadcasts with a high service level guarantee will require up to 200Mbps of capacity. Add on top of that over-the-top (OTT) services such as NetFlix, YouTube, etc. in 4K and the requirements for high speed continue to grow. Only G.fast offers the ability to support the high capacity over copper wires that’s needed to deliver UHDTV. SUPPORT FOR 4K UHDTV SERVICES BY TELCOS NOW VALIDATED

January 5, 2015, International CES, Las Vegas, Nevada – Sckipio Technologies, the leader in

G.fast chipsets, announced the world’s first public demo of ultra-high definition television over a

G.fast ultra-broadband network.

“Consumers want their broadband supplier to support 4K TV services,” said David Baum, CEO of

Sckipio Technologies. “However, DSL isn’t fast enough. Only Sckipio’s G.fast solution today is

proven to deliver UHDTV over real-world telco environments to up to 16 concurrent subscribers per

distribution point.”

G.fast is the new ultra broadband access standard approved by the ITU in December 2014. This

standard is designed to support up to 1Gbps of broadband access to consumers over existing

telephone wires. The typical G.fast deployment has subscribers connected through a distribution

point close to the home. From there, it connects via fiber to the central office. The Sckipio solution is

the only G.fast solution to support 16 concurrent subscribers on one distribution point.

The mass deployment of UHDTV services is limited by the availability of high bandwidth broadband

access – especially for telephone-based broadband service providers. To support four separate

streams of 4K broadcasts with a high service level guarantee will require up to 200Mbps of capacity.

Add on top of that over-the-top (OTT) services such as NetFlix, YouTube, etc. in 4K and the

requirements for high speed continue to grow. Only G.fast offers the ability to support the high

capacity over copper wires that’s needed to deliver UHDTV.

The demonstration consists of Sckipio’s 16-port DPU reference design and 16 Sckipio CP1000-EVM

CPE reference design bridges, running over a 50 meters binder. The DPU runs full G.fast stack with

vectoring and it is connected to a media center with 4K content that is streaming to a CPE that is

connected to a 4K STB and TV. In the demonstration, each 4K video stream runs over the G.fast

line and consumes around 65Mbps.
