Two Projects:1. Wayfinding

An app for asylum seekers and refugees in Sheffield that helps you find what you need

Uses streetview, maps, icons, different languages

2. Asylum JourneyAn accessible database that shows the different services available at different stages of the asylum process

Why Wayfinding?

An asylum seeker new to Sheffield can easily get lost

and…

miss appointments

miss opportunities

lose their way home

Page 5: Report on Sheffield Hackathon For Refugees

What we didAsylum seekers prioritised the needs

Tech people did lots of coding and designing. They started sorting things like licences and servers

We set up a spreadsheet of organisations

We got a long way but there is still more to do

What the app will do

LOCATION - I am here

NEED - I need (money)

WHERE TO GO - (Post Office)

HOW TO GET THERE - Directions, Map

At the Hackathon:● The tech people worked up a first ‘front end’ -

showing what it might be like

● They tried it out with the existing Trello cards we had worked on

● They worked on a new format to add to the information, based on the form we designed

● At the moment we are still using the Trello cards to collect the information - we need to complete and check these

What happens next? The next hack session will be in about a month’s time

We need to get all the information we want onto the Trello cards and into the spreadsheet

We’re looking for volunteers to test the Wayfinding app and the Asylum Journey
