The two day conference is supported by the Australasian Tunnelling Society and brings together tunnelling leaders, engineers and industry experts to share best practice in tunnelling design, construction, safety and maintenance. The 2012 program focussed on updates from Australasia’s current and future projects, plus case studies from leading International projects - sharing best practice and lessons learnt from the forefront of the latest tunnelling projects. Long tunnel considerations

•  Long tunnels –  M1 Pacific Motorway to M2 >8km with no intermediate

interchanges –  WestConnex – tunnel travel of up to 13km with interchanges

•  Driver experience –  Safety –  Lighting –  Way finding –  Geographical referencing – knowing where you are –  Tunnel identity

Industry engagement The project team are engaging with industry (designers, constructors, operators, maintainers, tolling providers and financiers) on the wider WestConnex scheme during November and December 2013.
