What is the mouse?• The mouse controls where your cursor is on

the computer screen. • The mouse is used as much as the keyboard

when you are using a computer.

Common terms when using the mouse

• Double-click -- select the item by quickly select the left side of the mouse twice.

• Highlight – use the mouse to highlight a selection so you can copy, delete etc.

• Scrolling – using the mouse to view the lower part of the website that can’t be seen on the screen. You can scroll up and down.

More common mouse terms• Minimize – make what your are selecting drop to

the bottom so you can go back to it later.• Maximize – make the what you are selecting come

to the forefront so you can revisit it. • X-out – make the what you select go away

forever.

• Mosquito Game – swat mosquitoes• Follow Instructions – follow instructions• Piece a puzzle – do a jigsaw puzzle

Reminders• Clicking the wrong button will never break

the computer. Don’t be afraid to try something.

• When you are just starting out, it’s a good idea to just try a button to see what it does.

• The more you practice the more confident you will become.
